The Brooklyn Nets (17-12) travel to Phoenix for a nighttime matchup against the Suns (17-9). Both Brooklyn and Phoenix are two of the most exciting teams in the NBA to watch. Recently, Kyrie Irving has done a great job of scoring and James Harden has complimented Irving’s offensive performances with much-needed rebounding and passing. Devin Booker continues to do it all for the Suns averaging 22.6 per game. James Harden versus Devin Booker is a matchup to watch out for as Harden is known for not playing the best defense.
Best in the West?
The Phoenix Suns are one of the hottest teams in the entire NBA right now. Phoenix has won 9 of their last 10 games and is currently on a six-game winning streak. The Suns also aren’t only beating bad teams, Phoenix has wins over the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Boston Celtics. This offseason Phoenix acquired veteran all-star point guard Chris Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder. That trade has paid off very well for the Suns and added an experienced and talented point guard to a young team. The Suns are a very talented and deep roster. Look for Deandre Ayton to have a big game down low and rebounding in this one against the very undersized Nets.
New Look Nets
Over the past few weeks, the Brooklyn Nets have been trying to build chemistry on the court with their new players, but it has been very difficult. James Harden joined the team from the Houston Rockets and he has picked up where he left off on the court. Brooklyn has struggled to get all three of their all-stars on the court at the same time as Kyrie Irving took some time off and Kevin Durant missed time due to injury and Covid-19. The sooner Brooklyn gets to have all three players on the court starting together, the sooner this team will be unguardable and putting up huge scoring numbers.
Last five Games
Of late the Nets have struggled but are slowly turning things around. After the James Harden trade, the Nets transformed their lineup completely and everyone knew it would take some time for the team to adjust. Brooklyn has a lineup with three all-stars and they will figure things out. Don’t expect the Nets to struggle very much once they are at full strength. On the season Brooklyn is 13-16 against the spread.
Phoenix is easily one of the hottest teams in the league. The Suns are not only winning games right now, but they are dominating in these games and are putting up huge amounts of points. On the season Phoenix is 17-9 against the spread.
Kevin Durant – Out (hamstring)
When healthy Durant is one of the most productive players on the Nets team. On the season Durant is averaging 29.0 points per game with 7.3 rebounds per game and 5.3 assists per game. Durant’s absence will be felt against the Suns.
Nets vs Suns Betting Odds
Nets +3 (-110) Moneyline (+110) Over/Under 230 (-115)
Suns -3 (-110) Moneyline (-139) Over/Under 230 (-115)
Prediction: Suns -3
The absence of Kevin Durant in this one is the big X-factor. With Durant healthy, the Nets would be the favorite in this matchup and would be the much better team. The way Phoenix is playing right now and the fact that Kevin Durant is not playing is enough for the Suns to take this one. The Nets are also coming off of a game in Sacramento on Monday winning 136-125 and spending the early hours of the morning traveling to Phoenix. Expect plenty of points and plenty of highlight-reel shooting from two very talented teams.
