Wizards vs Knicks Pick and Video Preview: The Wizards will head to NY to face the Knicks in a game that is sure to be a lot of fun. DC’s elite backcourt will try and guide the team to a sixteenth win as they try and remain in the playoff picture. The Knicks, on the other side meanwhile are trying to get over a heartbreaking overtime loss to the 76ers.

The Wizards would not be anywhere near the postseason if it started today, but the team has made a few strides. The issue is that outside of Russ and Beal; nobody else can be counted on every night. Losing Thomas Bryant for the year early on was a huge blow. He was playing well and continuing to build off a strong campaign a year ago. It also appears that Davis Bertans was a waste of money.

What a year Julius Randle has been having for the Knicks. His first season in the Big Apple was inconsistent, and it didn’t seem that he was built for the spotlight. Boy, has he proved everyone wrong. He is scoring at will, posting triple-doubles, and hitting clutch shots on the nightly. He and RJ Barrett have the Knicks in playoff position at this very moment.

Betting Odds

  • Spread: The Knicks are favored to beat the Wizards, the spread at -2.
  • Over/Under: The over/under is a very reasonable 225.5.
  • Moneyline: The Wizards moneyline is +107, while it’s -129 for the Knicks.

Wizards Seek Road Win

When the team traded John Wall for Russell Westbrook in early December, it seemed that it could make the team better. Wall missed all of last year, while Westbrook helped guide Houston, along with James Harden, to the second round of the playoffs. It has not quite worked out like that.

Russ is nearly averaging a triple-double, proving to be a terrific player night in, night out. Bradley Beal is leading the NBA in scoring. But who else do they have to rely on? Bertans is shooting horribly, while Rui Hachimura quickly goes from hot to cold. Alex Len and Robin Lopez are clearly not cutting it at the center spot. The bench is led by Deni Avdija, not getting many touches, and Raul Neto.

When you have the backcourt this team does, more wins should be coming. The problems run a little deeper. If they want to win this one, they’ll need to limit the impact of Randle. Also, beware of Mitchell Robinson, who’s healthy again and blocking shots.

Knicks Seeking W at Home

The year has been kind and also extremely rude to the Knicks. They are hovering around .500 when most folks thought they wouldn’t be too good. Randle found his way to the All-Star game, while RJ Barrett has improved his game across the board. Alec Burks has been tremendous for them, and Immanuel Quickley might be the point guard of the future.

The issues they do have, though, stem from the rookies. Quickley and the team’s lottery pick Obi Toppin have not gotten enough minutes. IQ is finally playing big chunks while D-Rose recovers from having COVID, but Toppin is hardly seeing the court. The #8 pick is supposed to be part of the future, but Thibs love of Randle is keeping him from getting more than 5-10 minutes per game.

In order to pick up the victory in this one, Barrett will need to keep Beal under 40 points. That sounds easy, but with the way Brad scores, it’s a sure challenge. And look for Randle to dominate Hachimura on the other side.

Wizards vs Knicks Pick

  • Spread: Knicks -2 is the way to go. This will be a big bounce-back win for them.
  • Over/Under: Knowing the Wizards, they’ll get around NY’s tight D and score a ton. So, over 225.5.
  • Moneyline: NYK -129, folks. A big-time victory is headed the Knicks’ way.

Sports Writer by day, Sports Broadcaster by night. When I’m not doing either of these things, I’m probably playing pickup basketball at the park, or watching whatever NBA game is on the evening’s slate. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t try and learn more about the players in today’s league, as well as the history of them. I’m considered to be an anomaly with my sports fandoms as a Cavaliers, Ravens and Nationals fan.
