Worst Fanbases in the NBA

Basketball, NBA, NCAAB, CBB, College Hoops article at Knup Sports

The NBA would not exist without their fans, but some fans are worse than others. Check out our top three worst fanbases in the NBA.

Basketball is the greatest sport in the world, but there are always people who can ruin that for you. With 30 NBA franchises, not all of the fanbases are going to be the friendliest. In fact, we are going to highlight the bad apples in the bunch. Did we just give away a team on the list?

In this list, we will be highlighting the three most toxic fanbases in all of the NBA. This is not a list you want to be on, but is your favorite team on the list?

New York Knicks, No. 3

You can name any sport, and odds are a team from New York will be known for having one of the worst fanbases in that league. To no surprise, the same can be said for the NBA when it comes to New York Knicks fans.

The Knicks are one of those teams you can be walking around a rural city in the midwest and see some guy wearing one of their hats, and you have no idea why. That same guy will go on and on about how historic they are and how they are one free agent away from winning an NBA championship. There is a reason they did not get Donovan Mitchell.

With only two rings to their name, and none coming since 1973, the fans really should not be as toxic as they are. On top of that, why do they think they will land every single free agent? They are entitled and need a reality check if the last 50 years have not been enough of one.

Philadelphia 76ers, No. 2

We have all heard it before; Philadelphia sports fans are…let’s say, passionate. Being passionate is good, but not at the level of the Philadelphia 76ers fanbase.

If you ever get bored, just look up Philadelphia sports fans for a laugh. This might make you want to stay away from the city as well if you are an opposing fan. The city has a lot of history, but do not add a 76ers game to your Philadelphia road trip.

I have always respected the teams they put out on the floor, but the fans ruin it all. Perhaps a potential ring with a healthy James Harden and Joel Embiid seeking an MVP will improve the fanbase in Philly or– in the worst case possible–make them even more toxic.

Boston Celtics, No. 1

The Boston Celtics are a truly likable team; in fact they may be the most likable team on this list. The fans of the Knicks suck, but most people get pleasure out of shaming their team. With a young core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, what’s not to like?

There are countless stories of good ol’ racism in the Boston TD Garden. If you do not believe me, take it from arguably the greatest basketball player of all time who agrees with me. LeBron James stated that Celtics fans are “racist as f***.”

Sure, the Celtics have a lot to be cocky about; they are the greatest NBA team to ever exist. Their history is incredible, and they remain a force to be reckoned with. However, their fans simply suck.

Congratulations to the Boston Celtics fanbase. Did we miss any teams you were thinking should be on the list?
