Josh Shaw, 27 years old with the Arizona Cardinals – has been given his walking papers from the team indefinitely. Shaw, a native of Palmdale, CA, was caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar. He’s been suspended without pay throughout the 2020 season. The official NFL announcement was made on Friday. Shaw was on the injured reserve list when he was suspended, say NFL officials.
Shaw has been accused of betting on several games throughout the season. In their official statement, they said, “A league investigation uncovered no indicating any inside information was used. Or that any game was compromised in any way. Nor was there evidence suggesting any awareness by teammates, coaches or other players of his betting activity. The team, along with Shaw’s agent were asked for comments on the matter at this time, they have remained silent. Shaw has three days, until Wednesday, December 4, 2019 to file an appeal.
Shaw Was A Standout High School Player At Palmdale High & At USC During College
Shaw was a standout player in the Southern California desert town of Palmdale, He played cornerback, wide receiver and quarterback. He committed to the University of Florida and transferred to the University of Southern California shortly before his sophomore year began. He started to have some legal issues while still a college player. Right before Shaw started his senior year at USC, he was suspended from the football team. The reason was that he lied about how he received injuries to both ankles. He told USC officials he was injured when he jumped into a pool from a balcony to save his nephew from drowning. He actually jumped from an apartment balcony, to avoid being arrested for domestic violence against his girlfriend.
In Spite Of His Alleged Character Issues He Was Drafted By The Cincinnati Bengals In 2015
In spite of his issues at USC, his talent saved him, and he was drafted in 120th round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015. He was released and signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018, after only a few months he was signed with Tampa Bay in November of 2018. On March 18th, 2019 Shaw signed with Arizona. In August he was placed on the injured reserve list due to a serious shoulder injury.
He was signed to Arizona as ‘a free agent’ and has not played the regular season due to the injury. The Commissioner of the NFL Roger Goodell said Mr.Shaw can reapply for admission into the NFL in 2021. Goodell said the NFL is doing everything it can, to ensure the integrity of the game, it’s players and all of the staff. This type of behavior that Shaw engaged in, simply will not be tolerated.’ Goodell added, “At the core of this responsibility is the long-standing principle that betting on NFL games, or on any element of the game, damages public confidence in the NFL, and is strictly forbidden under all circumstances.”
