• Broncos coming off the bye
  • Is Justin Herbert officially back after last week?
  • Will the Bronco’s offense be able to match the Chargers?

This season’s theme of the NFL has been an inconsistent play, and both these teams can be thrown into that pile of teams who look different week to week. Last Sunday night in Los Angeles, Herbert and the Chargers showed why they are not a team to be taken lightly.

The second-year quarterback threw for over 380 yards and three touchdowns against a Pittsburgh defense that is no slouch. Austin Ekeler, the premier back for the bolts, also had a huge night showing his dual-threat, accumulating four touchdowns, two through the air and two on the ground.

As for this Broncos squad, they started off the season hot but have since sputtered a bit. After a dismantling of the Cowboys Week 9, they put up only 13 on the Eagles, showing why you can’t get a definitive read of this team. The bye week was huge for them to see if they could straighten this ship out down the season’s home stretch.

Broncos Preview: Elite Pass Defense

One particular matchup within the game will be very interesting to follow throughout this Sunday affair. The Broncos have an elite pass defense, maybe one of the best in the league. They will have to show out against the Charger’s elite air game.

So far this season, they have allowed the second-lowest completion percentage to oppose quarterbacks and an 83.1 passer rating, good for fourth in the NFL, led by first-round pick Patrick Surtain who has been lights out all season.

Chargers Preview: What Team Will Show Up?

Weekly it’s a different story with this team. Just looking at a small sample size like their last four games in which they are 2-2. They beat the Steelers and Eagles but couldn’t beat the Vikings and Patriots. All four of those games were winnable games for this team, so it will be interesting to see what version of the Chargers show up.

Something you can look for to emerge in this game is Herbert looking to extend plays with his legs when receivers down the field cant get open. Last week he did a great job of accumulating 90 yards on nine carries. Look for that to show in this one.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This NFL Game

This game is an interesting one, to say the least. After a bye week and considering the secondary this Broncos squad has, I can see them winning outright in this one. The point spread isn’t needed, it feels like this Chargers team is just too inconsistent to bet with, and you know the Bronco’s defense will show up and show out at home.
