Through the first four weeks of the NFL season, there is but one undefeated team left. And that would be the Arizona Cardinals. Not to be confused with MLB’s St. Louis squad who won 17 in a row, they have come out scorching.

They have not shown weakness in any part of their game en route to this great beginning. They are lacking in weakness and so far, are now the last team to avoid defeat. And though they have 13 games left to play, this begs the ultimate question.

Are the Cardinals Super Bowl contenders?

Cardinals Super Bowl Contenders? | Highest Scoring Offense

As they are yet to lose a game on the year, the Cardinals have opened up 4-0. They went 5-10-1 in Kyler Murray’s first year, before improving to 8-8 a season ago. They did finish last season on a losing streak, and so they have come into 2021 ready to prove that they are a new unit.

They replaced Kenyan Drake with James Conner, who has done a nice job through this point in the year. Much better than the player he was in Pittsburgh a season ago. And Chase Edmonds is averaging nearly six yards per carry. Both guys have looked good, while Kyler himself is running it well.

Murray has nine TD passes against four interceptions and is averaging nearly 318 yards through the air. The team has five guys with over 175 yards receiving, showing a great balance to this point. They run a tremendous offense, and nobody has been able to stop it yet.

Arizona has scored better than 30 points in all of their games. And other than allowing 33 points to Minnesota, they have limited the other three opponents to 20 points or fewer.

Beating the Good Teams

The first game of the year saw the Cardinals totally obliterate their opponents. They took out the Titans and absolutely crushed their spirits. They picked up a 38-13 against them, allowing Derrick Henry and company to only 86 rushing yards.

That Tennessee offense has picked up in recent weeks, so the stifling looks even more impressive. And hanging 37 points on a Rams team that was coming off a win against Tampa Bay? That is just incredible, holding them to only 20 points, too. It was a perfect game and it sets the tone on what will be an intriguing year within the division.

The NFC West has four legitimate playoff teams in it. There is a very low chance they all qualify, but it can happen with the seven-team format. Seattle has one of the better passing games in the league with key contributors on D.

The Rams are 3-1 and have a defense as good as any other in the league. And, they have Matthew Stafford as their quarterback right now. The 49ers have a lot of injury issues right now, and yet they are remaining competitive. Wait until they get to full strength.

Making it to the Super Bowl in the NFC is a very hard thing to do right now. But, the Cardinals should definitely stay in the conversation. They have what it takes.

Sports Writer by day, Sports Broadcaster by night. When I’m not doing either of these things, I’m probably playing pickup basketball at the park, or watching whatever NBA game is on the evening’s slate. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t try and learn more about the players in today’s league, as well as the history of them. I’m considered to be an anomaly with my sports fandoms as a Cavaliers, Ravens and Nationals fan.
