- Patriots looking for their first win against a formidable opponent
- Chargers are looking to rebound from the Ravens game before their bye week.
- What Chargers team is going to show up?
Mac Jones and the Patriots will be traveling to SoFi Stadium Sunday in hopes of picking up their first win against a team currently holding a winning record. So far this season, they have beaten the New York Jets twice and the Houston Texans, not precisely powerhouses. A win this week vs the 4-2 Chargers would give them that and bring them back to .500 at 4-4.
For the Chargers, they will be coming off a bye week which hopefully sorted out whatever happened to them in week six vs the Ravens. The Chargers had issues getting their run game to flourish against the Ravens and having their quarterback Justin Herbert only throw for 185 yards and a touchdown. They will have to be better against a well-coached Patriots squad that you know will bring the heat come Sunday.

Chargers Preview: Shake off those cobwebs
Things could get spooky for the Chargers Sunday, and yes, that is a Halloween reference. The Chargers must be mindful of Bill Belicheck and his ability to put together a solid defensive scheme, likely similar to the one Baltimore put out.
A solid day rushing the passer will be intimate for the Chargers to slow down a surging Patriots offense. So far this season, they have accumulated 13 sacks in their six games, relatively middle of the pack numbers. Where this defense really earns its living is their pressure percentage, They are 6th in the league when it comes to hurrying the quarterback, and that will be key as rookie quarterbacks tend to get flustered in those situations.
Patriots Preview: Mac & Cheese With a Side of W’s
Mac Jones is rolling, and there is no question about that. In back-to-back games, the rookie signal-caller has had a 100+ QBR for a rookie. That is the first time that feat has been accomplished thus far, pretty impressive stuff.
For Jones to be effective this weekend, Joey Bosa will have to be kept under wraps. So far this season, he has been a menace to opposing quarterbacks, tallying eight quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, and three and a half sacks through six games.
That should not be too much of a challenge for the Patriot’s offensive line, who has allowed 14 sacks this season, an average of two per game. But keep in mind they have played the Jets twice and Dolphins once, so there is a good chance the numbers are skewed.
Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This NFL Game
When it comes down to putting money on the game, I feel like the Patriots are likely to cover. Dating back to last season, the Chargers have been notorious for letting teams stick around and only this season have they turned the page and started to win these close matchups.
Even if the Chargers do pull it out, the game should stay relatively close to the spread. Playing it safe would be the Charger’s Moneyline, as they will likely find a way to win this one. Personally, I would stay away from the O/U, and it Just seems too unpredictable considering these teams’ past performances.
