NFL Preseason action is in full swing heading into Week 3. With a reduced preseason and an extra regular season game, it remains to be seen exactly how teams will use each week. Will we see more starters getting snaps this week or next week? Maybe not at all.

On Friday night in primetime, the Kansas City Chiefs are set to take on the Arizona Cardinals in each team’s 2nd preseason game. Both teams came away with a Week 2 victory.

The Chiefs took care of the 49ers, 19-16, and the Cardinals beat the Cowboys by the exact same score.

A season ago, the Chiefs finished the season with the most wins in the NFL with 16 including the playoffs. Unfortunately, one of their 3 losses was in the Super Bowl against the Buccaneers.

Arizona failed to make the playoffs last season. They finished with a 7-9 record. Coincidentally, their record against the spread was also 7-9.

The action is set to kick off at 8:00 EST on Friday evening and you can catch it on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.

Kansas City Shuffle

Not much was learned during the 1st Chiefs game this season. The starters stayed on the sidelines while the backups and roster competitions duked it out between the lines.

The Chiefs still came out victorious just as we expected them to. Why Vegas had them as underdogs, even on the road, is beyond me. I’m not sure the Chiefs should ever be dogs at this point.

Week 3 of the preseason is typically the week that starters get at least a few series, and sometimes even a full quarter. If the Chiefs play their offensive starters for even 1 series, we fully anticipate that they will score.

On the defensive side of the ball, we expect the Chiefs to be just as formidable. A season ago they finished in the middle of the pack in takeaways, an area they must improve if they want to finish off another title run.

DraftKings has the Chiefs’ odds to make the Super Bowl for a third straight year at +500. The highest odds of any NFL team. Their regular season win total is set at 12.5 with the over at +110. We advise taking the over.

Time for Kyler to Ball

Kyler Murray hasn’t exactly been over or underwhelming in his young NFL career. The Cardinals were terrible when they drafted him and he is no miracle worker.

Someday though, he just may turn into a miracle worker. Murray has certainly looked and played the part of a budding superstar in his first 2 seasons. With a bit less uncertainty across the board this season, we expect Murray to have a winning season this year.

The Cardinals, while not astronomically better, should be improved this season. DraftKings has their Super Bowl odds at +4500 and their regular season win total at 8.5. Over 8.5 plays at +100 and that is where our money is headed.

Chiefs vs Cardinals Pick

As for this week’s Chiefs vs Cardinals pick, KC is favored by 2.5 points, and the game total is set at 41.5, a fairly high total for a preseason game. Maybe the books expect the starters to stay on the field a bit longer this week as well.

You can get the Cardinals on the moneyline at +105, with the Chiefs at -125.

With the uncertainty surrounding how the teams will play the starters, we will stay away from the 41.5 points this week, but we are ALL OVER the Chiefs at -2.5 (+100).

If Vegas keeps giving us Chiefs plus anything on the spread or moneyline, we are likely going to take it. Take the Chiefs -2.5.
