• Both these teams are struggling
  • Daniel Jones: The Giants’ only asset?
  • What happened to the Chiefs?

In the eighth week of NFL regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs (3-4) host the New York Giants (2-5) at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, with kickoff scheduled for Monday night at 8:15 pm EST.

This will be an interesting game, as both these teams are trying to bounce back after a slow start to the season. The Chiefs, who are currently third place in the AFC West, hope to get their fourth win of the season following a disappointing 27-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans last week.

The Giants, on the other hand, are dead last in the NFC East, and they are aiming to win two in a row. In Week 7, they pulled off an upset and defeated the Carolina Panthers 25-3.

Chiefs Preview: A Completely Different Team

The Kansas City Chiefs are…not good. And that’s certainly odd, considering they won the Super Bowl two years ago, and they’re led by Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have struggled with getting any type of momentum going this season, resulting in their 3-4 record. Last week, they scored only three points against the Tennessee Titans. It was the Chiefs’ lowest-scoring game under head coach Andy Reid since a loss to the Denver Broncos on December 30, 2012.

The Chiefs have also been terrible against the spread this season, and Patrick Mahomes has thrown an interception six games in a row, an all-time career low.

Kansas City is certainly in trouble. They don’t look like two-time AFC Champions, as they are currently third in their division. Maybe the time to panic hasn’t come yet, but the Chiefs certainly need to examine themselves and get themselves together. This Week 8 game against the Giants might be exactly what they need.

I don’t really think this game is about which team is better, it’s about which team is worse. Ultimately, I think the Giants are the worse team, so I’m going with the Chiefs to win this Monday Night Football game. That being said, my bet is on the Giants to cover the spread because I don’t have enough faith in the Chiefs to cover a nine-point spread.

Giants Preview: Are They Slowly Improving?

The New York Giants aren’t exactly a good team. They’re just not. They’re currently dead last in the NFC East with a record of 2-5. However, the Giants are just as bad as every other team in their division, with the surprising exception of the Dallas Cowboys.

Both the Washington Football Team and the Philadelphia Eagles have records of 2-5, meaning that every game for all three of these NFC East teams is crucial to division placement. The Giants need this win if they hope to turn the season around.

Do I think they will get the win this week? No. Do I think that they will be able to keep it competitive against the Chiefs? Yes.

The Giants aren’t good, I don’t think anyone will argue with me on that. But they do have some decent players on their team. The one that stands out to me most is Daniel Jones. He’s racked up 229 rushing yards and 1727 passing yards this season, and he is one of three quarterbacks who lead their team in both passing yards and rushing yards. (The other two are the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson.)

Jones is a solid player who lacks the ability to finish the job. The Giants have played and lost a lot of close games this season, but they’ve been improving a little bit. They pulled off an upset win against the Carolina Panthers last week, defeating them 25-3. Their defense especially stood out in that came, holding the Panthers to just 173 total yards and 11 first downs.

I think this will be a decently close game, and that the Giants defense will be able to pressure Mahomes and Daniel Jones will be able to make some big plays. However, at the end of the day, I think the Giants will keep the game competitive then fall later in the game to get their sixth loss of the season.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Football Game

DraftKings Sportsbook has the Kansas City Chiefs as nine-point favorites for this game and -425 moneyline favorites. The total is set for 52 points, with the over/under at -110.

I think this will be a decently high-scoring game, so I would bet the over. Despite the offensive struggles both these teams have had, I think that they will be able to score a decent amount of points, especially considering that both of these teams aren’t very good.

I don’t trust the Chiefs to cover the spread, considering that it’s a hefty spread at nine points, and that they’ve been historically bad against the spread this season. I also think the Giants have the tools they need to keep the game semi-competitive, so I would bet the Chiefs to win but the Giants to cover the spread in this Week 8.
