Devon Achane: Speeding Bullet

Football, NCAAF, CFB, NFL article at Knup Sports

What if I told you that there was a running back who was recently drafted in the NFL who can be a nightmare for opposing teams? I am, of course, talking about Devon Achane, formally out of Texas A&M.

What if I told you that there was a running back who was recently drafted in the NFL who can be a nightmare for opposing teams? I am, of course, talking about Devon Achane, formally out of Texas A&M.

Devon played football all his life. Growing up in Missouri City, Texas, Devon Achane was a star athlete. In his high school career, he ran for 4795 yards with 87 touchdowns. He was also rated as a four-star recruit and also ran track.

After high school, Achane committed to Texas A&M University to play for head coach Jimbo Fisher. As a true freshman, Devon rushed for 364 yards on 43 carries with four touchdowns. He was also named MVP of the Orange Bowl, rushing for 140 yards on 12 carries.

During his sophomore season at Texas A&M, Devon Achane’s role was increased significantly. He led Texas A&M and all-purpose yards as well as gained the accolade of all SEC. In 2022, he became the starting running back for Texas A&M ranging in over 1,102 yards on the season. He was then selected just last week as the 83rd pick in the 2023 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins.

As far as how I think he will adapt to the NFL after having success in college, I think He is a lethal force who should be a valuable pick up for the Miami Dolphins.

With his speed, there’s no way; the Dolphins will be back at the center of the playoff conversation this upcoming season. I mean, just imagine him, Mostert and Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle the speed in Miami this year will be incomprehensible.

If his work at Texas A&M was any indication, the Dolphins should be able to put up 50 on any opposing team (OK, maybe not 50, but this writer sure was excited at the addition to his hometown team); he cannot run with the best of them.

How do I know this so much? Because Devon Achane did the exact same thing that I’m praising him for to my Miami hurricanes. ( I still haven’t let that won’t heal if anyone is wondering. He made our week three game a living nightmare. I suppose I can put my “ bitterness” aside for Devon).

In all seriousness, I am very excited about this pick-up to see how he can mesh into Mike McDaniel‘s office. It should be fun to see come September. However, Devon Achane knows that it won’t be easy. He said in many of his numerous interviews that he feels that McDaniel’s offense can shoot him and his playing style. I, for one, cannot wait to see how that plays out.

Putting aside my neutrality for one second, I think that we can be Super Bowl bound. I know you’re probably thinking, but it’s only one player, and you would be right. However, I think that this can build on the success that we had last season. Only time will tell, but this is certainly a great start.

If, for some reason, you are reading this and still don’t believe me, I encourage you to look up Devon Achane’s highlights on YouTube to understand why I’m so optimistic about this draft pick. With him alone, I would be bold enough to say that the Dolphins will win their first playoff game. I’m that confident. As for whether that comes true, we shall see.
