• Cam Newton is perfectly meh
  • McCaffrey dominates the running game
  • Dolphins can kiss their winning streak goodbye

In the 12th week of the NFL, the Miami Dolphins (4-7) host the Carolina Panthers (5-6) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, with kickoff scheduled for Sunday at 1 pm EST.

The Dolphins are entering this game hoping to extend their winning streak to four games, as they most recently beat the New York Jets 24-17 last week. The Panthers, on the other hand, hope to bounce back this week after losing to the Washington Football Team in a disappointing 27-21 performance.

Dolphins Preview: Goodbye, Winning Streak

Despite starting off rather poorly, the Dolphins have rallied these past few weeks, winning three games in a row to improve their record to a better (but still meh) 4-7 record. In fact, they actually opened this week as a one-point favorite in Saturday’s game against the Panthers before the line moved Monday.

I honestly don’t have that much to say about the Dolphins. I wouldn’t really take their three-game winning streak as a big deal since these wins were against the New York Jets, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Houston Texans, all of whom have struggled, especially defensively, this season. I’d take these wins with a grain of salt.

Combine that with the fact that both Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey are back in full swing with the Panthers, I don’t really think the Dolphins are going to win this one. By no means am I saying that the Panthers are a good team, I simply think that the Dolphins are worse, and I don’t see them winning this Week 12 matchup.

Panthers Preview: Getting Back On Their Feet

In a crazy and somewhat rushed turn of events last week, Cam Newton made an emotional and joyful return to Bank of America Stadium as the Carolina Panthers’ starting quarterback. What better way is there to start off with your first 2021 NFL game than with a loss? And not just any loss, a loss to the Washington Football Team.

Newton’s return to Carolina was…just about as meh as you’d expect. He didn’t dazzle us with any of his new and improved skills, and he didn’t suck. He played decently, but not good enough to get the win.

In Week 12, Newton and the Panthers will hope to secure a win against the Miami Dolphins and end their three-game winning streak. It is an important game, as the team has a Week 13 bye and if they hope to revamp the energy and wriggle their way back into playoff contention, then this win is vital.

If the Panthers put their heads down, do their best to minimize careless and sloppy mistakes, let Christian McCaffrey do his thing, and if Cam Newton can actually complete some big throws, they should be in good shape to beat the Dolphins.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Football Game

DraftKings Sportsbook has the Carolina Panthers as 2-point favorites for this game and -450 moneyline favorites. The total is set for 42.5 points, with the over/under at -110.

I would bet the over for this game, as I think both teams will be able to find the red zone multiple times. The Dolphins are average with scoring, but I think they will keep the game competitive. I expect the Panthers to score a lot of points, especially with McCaffrey being back and Newton’s scrambling ability.

I would be surprised if the Panthers were unable to cover the spread, which is only 2 points. I think the Dolphins will keep it close, but not that close. Bet the over, and the Panthers to both win and cover the spread.
