If there has been one positive from the 2020 NFL postponements, it’s the fact that we’ve gotten to double up on Monday Night Football a few times. Although we don’t get Thursday Night Football this week, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills are scheduled to duke it out at 5 ET on Monday.

It’ll play out as game 1 of an NFL doubleheader on Monday. Both teams will head into Monday afternoon’s battle with a 4-1 record. Both teams also came into week 5 with a 4-0 record and left with their first losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans, respectively.

Neither the Chiefs nor the Bills defense decided to join their respective offenses on the field last week. They look to change that in this battle. Kick-off is set for 5 ET and will be broadcast on Fox and NFL Network.

Too Many Chiefs, Not Enough Indians

From a defensive perspective, the Chiefs have been lackluster, to say the least. While their defense ranks 7th in the league for points against, they also rank 20th for yards allowed.

It hasn’t been through the air either. The Chiefs secondary has stepped up, putting them at 6th in the league in passing yards allowed. Their run defense, however, has been ugly.

They rank 29th in the NFL, allowing over 5 yards per attempt. They have to tighten up in front of they’d like to repeat as Super Bowl Champions this season.

While they haven’t been quite as explosive offensively this season, with each passing week you can see improvement and the spark that will eventually light the flame.

Mahomes is going to be Mahomes, and their rookie running back, Clyde Edwards-Helaire will continue to grow and make the offense even more dangerous. Get ready for another Chiefs offensive explosion for the second half of the season.

Bills Mafia on High

Bills Mafia has a product worth bleeding Bills blue and red for, again. Buffalo started the season 4-0 for the first time since 1992 when a certain Hall of Fame quarterback was at the helm.

Their first loss last week against the Titans may have brought them back down to earth a bit, but they still have a lot to look forward to. First of all, a highlight reel matchup against the defending champs.

Unfortunately for the Bills in this matchup, they’re really good in all the wrong areas. It would be a great week to be a fantastic running team, but Buffalo is much better through the air, ranking right up there with the Chiefs in passing offense.

It would also be a great week to defend the pass extremely well, but the Bills are much better at defending the run. Patrick Mahomes against a bottom-feeding secondary could get ugly.

Boiling it All Down

It essentially comes down to the ability of Josh Allen and his arm to continue the great season he is having. To do that, Sean McDermott must figure out a way to establish a ground game EARLY. It’s the only way Allen and the offense can keep up with the Chiefs for 60 minutes.

BetRivers has the Chiefs favored by 3.5 heading into the weekend. The total is set way up there, at 57.5. Looking at the way these teams match up, this game could be a high scoring affair.

The way they match up also spells trouble for the Bills. Mahomes and the Chiefs win and win big. They’ll cover 3.5 with ease, and look for the total to end up in the sixties. Good luck!
