- The Lions: the worst team in the NFL?
- Can the Steelers snag the top spot in the AFC North?
- Can the Lions keep it competitive?
In the tenth week of the NFL regular season, the Detroit Lions (0-8) travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3), with kickoff scheduled for Sunday at 1pm EST.
The Lions are currently the only winless team in the league right now, with a record of 0-8. They hope to get their first win of the season on Sunday, especially after getting demolished by the Philadelphia Eagles 44-6 in Week 8. The Steelers, on the other hand, are fighting for the top spot in the AFC North. They hope to extend their winning streak to five games, as they are entering this game fresh off the heels of a close 29-17 win over the Chicago Bears.

Lions Preview: Nowhere To Go But Up, But Not Now
I’m just gonna say what everyone’s thinking. The Lions are absolute trash. I mean, they have a 0-8 record and they’re the only team in the entire league who hasn’t won a game yet. Predictably, they’re dead last in the NFC North with absolutely no postseason prospects.
For the Lions, there really is nowhere to go but up. That being said, I don’t think that upward movement and improvement will start this season. It’s been eight weeks, and we’ve seen little to no improvement on Detroit’s end. I highly doubt that they will step it up and make decent improvements to turn this season around.
The Lions are entering this game fresh off of their Week 9 bye week, so at least they have that going for them. Despite that, the Lions are pretty much guaranteed their ninth loss of the season this week.
In their Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Lions certainly didn’t fare so well
Quarterback Jared Goff completed 25 of 34 passing attempts, threw for 222 yards, and got sacked 5 times, losing 45 yards.
To put it simply, the Lions aren’t going to win this game. That being said, I think that the break will provide them with some motivation, so I think that the Lions will lose, but at the same time, they might have enough in them to keep it semi-competitive, especially since the Steelers have been winning by slim margins.
Steelers Preview: Creative Title Addition
The Steelers have a lot on the line this week. After a terrible 1-3 start to the season, they’ve overcome the odds to win their next four games, and this week, they hope to extend that streak to six games.
Pittsburgh is currently second in the AFC North, with a record of 5-3. They are closing in on the Baltimore Ravens, who are first in the division with a 6-2 record. Winning this game is crucial if the Steelers hope to overtake the Ravens for the first-place spot in the AFC North. A lot is on the line.
Although I don’t think this will exactly be a blowout game, I think the Steelers will be able to win this one relatively comfortably. They are 100% a better team than the Lions, but then again, who isn’t? This should be the Steelers’ easiest matchup of the season, and I expect motivations to be high.
Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Football Game
DraftKings Sportsbook has the Pittsburgh Steelers as eight-point favorites for this game and -350 Moneyline favorites. The total is set for 42.5 points, with the over at -115 and the under at -105.
I think this will be a decently high-scoring game, so I would bet the over. The total isn’t that high, at 42.5 points. I would expect both teams to score over 20 points, despite the offensive struggles both these teams have had.
I would bet the Steelers to both win and cover the spread, which is set at eight points. As the Lions are an absolutely terrible team, I’d be surprised if the Steelers were not able to cover the spread.
