Five weeks into the 2020 NFL season and the contenders are separating themselves from the pretenders. Division races are becoming a little more clear, though there is still plenty of season left.

Let’s take a look at each AFC division and its betting odds to see what teams might be worth putting some money down on in a futures bet.

AFC East

The Buffalo Bills suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday night, but they still hold a one-game lead over the New England Patriots in the division race. This is reflected in their odds, as they are listed at -210.

Not surprisingly, New England still has believers, and if you think Bill Belichick can will his team to another division crown, the Patriots are currently at +150 to overtake the Bills. Obviously, the biggest question mark is the availability of quarterback Cam Newton after he’s been sidelined following a COVID-19 positive test.

Miami showed its potential with a rout of San Francisco on the road on Sunday, so +1200 odds might be enticing. The Jets, on the other hand, have yet to win a game and currently sit as a longshot at +20000.

AFC North

In what could be the best division in football, the Pittsburgh Steelers are currently on top at 4-0. But they have both the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns breathing down their necks at 4-1.

Despite being a half-game behind the Steelers, Baltimore is the betting favorite currently, holding -180 odds. The Ravens’ lone loss has been to Kansas City, so it makes sense that they’d still be considered the favorite in the division.

Pittsburgh is sitting at +225 currently, while the resurgent Browns are at +450. Cleveland has been playing great over the last four weeks and might be worth getting some money on.

Cincinnati, which is currently 1-3-1 on the season, is the division’s longshot at +15000.

AFC South

Tennessee has looked good despite going through multiple positive tests for COVID-19 and delays in its schedule. The Titans handed Buffalo their first loss of the season in convincing fashion on Tuesday night and currently sit atop the division standings with a perfect 4-0 mark.

This race could get interesting, though, as both Indianapolis and Houston have the potential to make a run. The Colts are 3-2 and need Philip Rivers to be better at avoiding turnovers, while the Texans got their first win of the season Sunday in their first game under interim head coach Romeo Crennel.

The Titans are the betting favorite in the division race, sitting at -200 entering Week 6. Indianapolis is next at +150, while Houston is enticing to take a flyer on, sitting at +1200 right now. Jacksonville, also 1-4 but having lost four straight, is listed at +5000.

AFC West

The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are the biggest favorite to win a division title this season, holding -900 odds to take the AFC West crown yet again. This despite the Chiefs losing to Las Vegas on Sunday and struggling to get a win over the Los Angeles Chargers earlier in the season.

Kansas City’s loss to the Raiders put it at 4-1 for the season, with Las Vegas just a game behind at 3-2. The Chiefs haven’t always looked good, even in their wins, but it’s hard to bet against Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

The Denver Broncos are 1-3 while the Chargers are bringing up the rear in the division standings at 1-4.

The Raiders are given a bit of a chance to catch Kansas City, holding +500 odds. Los Angeles is next at +2800 based on having a pair of overtime losses among its four setbacks, while Denver has the worst odds at +3500.
