The Offense

Will Ryan Tannehill be ready for the beginning of the season?  He has missed the last 20 games with a left knee injury. In 2016, in the last season he played, he had 19 touchdowns but threw 12 interceptions. Brock Osweiler is ready to play again this year if needed.

Running Backs:

Kenyan Drake, an Alabama product, ran for 644 yards last year and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. The other back is veteran Frank Gore and he hasn’t missed a game in six seasons. Arizona State running back Kalen Ballage was selected in the fourth round and will get some time if needed.

This unit was upgraded as Danny Amendola comes over from Patriots with 61 receptions for 659 yards and two touchdowns along with Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker returning. Albert Wilson came from the Chiefs after 42 receptions and three touchdowns with 554 yards. There are several targets for Tannehill or Osweiler to pass the ball to for a score.

Offensive Linemen:

Daniel Kilgore was signed at the center position to replace the departed Mike Pouncey. Left guard Josh Sitton was taken with a pick out of Central Florida. Ted Larsen will move to left guard. This unit is just an average group.

The Defense

Defensive Linemen:

It’s tough when your Pro Bowl tackle leaves and now that Suh is gone, the Dolphins must act accordingly. They will turn to Vincent Taylor or Savon Godchaux to fill the void. Cam Wake, Pro Bowl defensive end, will be asked to play up to his high quality.

Middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan, a 2017 second round pick, missed a big chunk of last season with a knee injury. Jerome Baker and Kiko Alonso will be asked to stop the run and a trio of unproven candidates will try to stop the pass.

All five starter return from this unit and they are really good. Pro Bowler strong safety Rashad Jones and TJ McDonald will bring in quality work along with Xavier Howard and Cordrea Tankersley. Nickel cornerback Bobby McClain returns and added will be Minkah Fitzgerald that they got through the draft process.

Special Teams

A new kicker is needed as Cody Parkey left and that allowed Miami to draft Jason Sanders from New Mexico to fill the position. Punter Matt Haack returns and long snapper John Denney is back. Returning the kicks will be in the hands and feet of Jakeem Grant.
