The Offense

Quarterbacks:

Derek Carr was in a slump last season and now he will attempt to snap out of it. He will be given some free reign by head coach Jon Gruden to mix things up and change as needed. EJ Manuel will be the backup quarterback.

Running Backs:

Marshawn Lynch will be given many more chances under this coaching staff to run more than ever before. Doug Martin has signed a one year contract and give a breather to Lynch. Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington will be learning the system.

Receivers:

Amari Cooper will be the first receiver on any passing plays from Carr. Jordy Nelson has been signed and he can be a force in this offensive scheme. Martavis Bryant was signed and he has explosive speed. Look for Jared Cook to be involved in many plays. This is a terrific receiving unit.

Offensive Linemen:

the center position belongs to Rodney Hudson, left guard will find Kelechi Osemele, and Gabe Jackson holds on to the right guard. This is a very powerful unit. First-round pick Kolton Miller could crack the lineup.

The Defense

Defensive Linemen:

Khalil Mack is dominant but he is considering a contract holdout. He could be a difference on the field. Defensive tackle Justin Ellis returns and in the draft, the Raiders picked up P.J. Hall and Maurice Hurst to provide inside push.

Linebackers:

Bruce Irvin will be given freedom to roam a bit on this unit and Tahir Whitehead was signed as a free agent for depth. Derrick Johnson will get the inside linebacker work and Azeem victor will be given many chances to impress the coaches.

Secondary:

Daryl Worley was picked up from the Eagles and Rashaan Melvin will play as will Gareon Conley. These are big guys that don’t back down. Veteran Marcus Gilchrist is in for depth and Karl Joseph could be of some help.

Special Teams

Giorgio Tavecchio is back for a second season as the kicker and Johnny Townsend was drafted to punt for the Raiders. Long snapper is Andrew DePaola with Ryan Switzer is expected to be the primary kick returner.
