Ben Roethlisberger returns for his 16th season as the quarterback. He has said he expects to play three more seasons. The Steelers drafted Mason Rudolph from Oklahoma State in the third round and he will be eyeing an opening in a few years. Josh Dobbs is the third string on this team.
Le’Veon Bell is the primary ball carrier and he is one of the best in the business. He is a dual threat that caught 85 passes last year. The quality dips with the backup which belongs to James Conner. Several others will be pushing for the second spot. Roosevelt Nix was named to the Pro Bowl from his fullback position.
Antonio Brown is the best receiver in the game at this time. he will be flanked by rookie James Washington and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Tight ends Jesse James and Lance McDonald will battle for playing time.
All starters return for Pittsburgh with three Pro Bowlers. Center Maurice Pouncey, right guard David DeCastro, and left tackle Alejandro Villanueva will create space for Big Ben. With Ramon Foster at left guard and Marcus Gilbert at right tackle, this unit is solid.
Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt return with hefty contracts but also are two good starting ends. Tyson Alualu was picked up as a free agent. Javon Hargrave is the nose tackle and hopefully is healed from his injury.
Of all the units for the Steelers, this is the weakest link. Jon Bostic was signed for the inside and T.J. Watt will get more valuable experience on the right outside. Bud Dupree is back and Vince Williams returns after wight tackles last year.
Two safeties were drafted with Terrell Edmunds from Virginia Tech was taken in the first round and Marcus Allen was selected in the fifth round from Penn State. Morgan Burnett was inked as a free agent and he will battle Artie Burns and Joe Haden for corner spots.
Chris Boswell set kicking records for Pittsburgh with 35 field goals and 142 points along with 89% accuracy. Punter Kordan Berry is back for his fourth season and free agent Kameron Canaday will get the long snapper duties. The punt returner is Antonio Brown and kickoff returns will find many different players getting the duties.
