Sports fans get ready for the most epic, entertaining, and exciting pregame show ever created — SHAQ Bowl 2021. For the first time, SHAQ Bowl will be taking the Super Bowl pregame by storm Sunday, Feb. 7 beginning at 3 PM on 20 plus platforms including Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
Now fans might be disappointed that the 2021 Super Bowl will be presented in a completely different fashion due to COVID-19, but the SHAQ Bowl will bring a completely new experience into your home providing fun events with big-name athletes and celebrities.
“With no in-person events this year, I teamed up with Mercari to create The SHAQ Bowl and connect Americans on the biggest day for sports of the year,” said Shaq. “Featuring a ton of my celebrity friends competing in viral challenges, plus superstar musical artists all live from Tampa, prepare for the most fun and action-packed Big Game Sunday show ever!”
Don’t get me wrong, the individual game hype is still there as football fans across the world get to watch an absolute heavyweight matchup between Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Patrick Mahomes and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, but we have now watched conventional NFL pregame shows since week one and it’s time to change it up in a huge way.
“All of the Super Bowl pregame stuff has been boring so we are going to change it up,” said Shaq. “Everyone is going to be at home this year so I said let’s do something fun and entertaining for the people.”
Highlighting the SHAQ Bowl will be some of the most popular athletes and celebrities competing for the first-ever Shaq Bowl trophy. The competition will be divided into two teams, team Kansas City and team Tampa Bay.
Headlining team Kansas City will be American DJ Diplo, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, fashion influencer Olivia Culpo, rapper Quavo, stuntman Steve-0, and wrestler the Miz. On the other hand, team Tampa Bay is led by actor Anthony Anderson, wrestler Drew McIntyre, rappers Nelly and Offset, Tim Tebow, and model Winnie Harlow.
SHAQ Bowl Events to Look Out For
- Shaq will be racing Bryson Tiller in a Papa John’s Epic Stuffed Chair in the #EpicStuffs Challenge presented by Papa John’s.
- A celebrity-filled game of dodgeball presented by Quaker Chewy.
- Tug of war presented by JCPenney.
- SHAQ Bowl Halftime performances by Migos, DJ Diesel, and a surprise guest.
It was important to the SHAQ Bowl to incorporate local businesses and the Tampa Bay Community. With the help of Pepsi Stronger Together teaming up with the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation Tampa Bay restaurants will be receiving much-needed financial support. Pepsi will be awarding grants totaling $100,000 live during the SHAQ Bowl.
“Shaq has been an invaluable partner for Pepsi Stronger Together, helping us give back to communities around the country while inspiring people to take action,” said Derek Lewis, President, South Division, PepsiCo Beverages North America. “We have seen an incredible response in cities from Miami to Memphis, Louisville to Washington, D.C. – from a charitable food drive, a community basketball court refurbishment, to mentorship programs with local universities – and we are thrilled to be able to give back to Tampa Bay small business community with the wildly popular SHAQ Bowl as a platform.”
Winning restaurants will be receiving grants of $10,000.
Hosted by Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, and Sarah Walsh this event will be must-watch television, but will also have plenty of great insight from two all-time wide receivers.
Everything will be happening live from the SHAQ Bowl stadium located nearby Raymond James Stadium with very strict COVID-19 procedures in effect.
Outside of the event, Shaq is hopeful for a high scoring game that goes back and forth for four quarters.
“I would love to see him (Tom Brady) win, I would love to see Leonard Fournette win, I would love to see Gronk, another personal friend of mine, however I love storylines…Old King versus the new Prince, the new Prince (Mahomes) won the big battle last year,” said Shaq.
Shaq also expects a ton of points to be scored in Super Bowl 55, predicting a score of 49-42.
