The last time these two teams met, the Los Angeles Kings scored three goals in the first and third period, while the San Jose sharks only put up a combined total of two goals. Prior to that game, they met two days before on February 9th.

This game was much more entertaining as the Sharks took an early 2-0 lead at the end of the first intermission. The Kings answered back with two goals in the second period nodding the score at two apiece. The Kings scored again in the third, giving them a 3-2 lead.

The Kings looked like they were going to win with about 40 seconds remaining until Evander Kane scored the team’s third goal assisted by Logan Couture and Brent Burns which sent the game to overtime.

This was a bad beat as the Sharks won in a shootout against the Kings. An interesting statistic is San Jose goalie, Martin Jones, had 40 games after regulation since the year 2015-16, which included 25 overtime wins and 15 shootout wins at the time.
