This has been an exciting week in the NHL. Read this article to see who Mitch ranks as the three stars of the week throughout the National Hockey League.
NHL Three Stars of The Week
The past week in the National Hockey League has produced a number of highlight-reel goals, unbelievable saves, and unforgettable moments. The performances from these three players are just a few more reasons as to why the skill in the NHL is getting better every season.
3rd Star: Anaheim Ducks G Anthony Stolarz
The Ducks 27-year-old netminder performed well enough in net to secure two wins this week for his team. Anthony Stolarz went 2-0 with a .932 save percentage and a 2.50 GAA. It was truly a tale of two different games for the Ducks starter.
The first game of the week was a 34 save shutout against the Ottawa Senators. His second appearance this week was a much different scenario.
He surrendered five goals while playing against the Vegas Golden Knights. Even though he gave up more goals than he would like, he was able to manage a .872 save percentage for the game.
Ultimately, his performances this past week were a direct result of the Anaheim Ducks finding four points towards their quest to get into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the 2021-22 season.
2nd Star: Dallas Stars RW Joe Pavelski
Joe Pavelski was stellar this past week for the Dallas Stars. His consistent point production helped the Stars secure four straight wins. The veteran forward tallied three goals in net while supplying six assists this week. Pavelski’s impact for the Stars this week went well beyond his point production.
The leader for the Stars was able to accumulate a +8 rating this week on the ice. Anytime a player finds themselves over plus five in a week it clearly shows they are doing something right. He is a fantastic two-way forward and his leadership on both sides of the puck help Dallas continue their winning ways.
With only having seven shots on net this week it is very interesting that Pavelski has clearly found that scoring touch. If he can continue to find his scoring at that rate of success, the Stars will get much-needed consistency from their veteran leader.
1st Star: Minnesota Wild LW Kirill Kaprizov
The Russian phenom finds himself at the top of the three stars list this week with his elite performance. Kaprizov played four games this week in which he secured 10 points. He rattled off four goals with six helpers to pad his stats.
His high flying rate of play helped the Minnesota Wild go 4-0 on the Week. They have been on fire as of late and the young winger is a major part of their success.
Kirill is willing to shoot the puck. He shoots it any chance he can get. Kaprizov rattle off 16 shots on the net and was able to bury four of them. This young man sets the pace for the Wild and they are finding themselves right in the thick of the playoff race because of it.
Keep an eye out for the Russian elite talent as the NHL season continues. His on-ice performance this past week secured his spot as the number one star.
