Panthers at Hurricanes Betting

The Florida Panthers (9-2-2) travel to North Carolina for an inter-division matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes (10-3). The Panthers and Hurricanes enter this game as two of the top teams in the NHL ranked fifth and sixth right now tied with 20 points on the season. Florida and Carolina were supposed to have already played each other once so far this season, but that game got postponed twice due to Covid-19. Following this game, the Panthers and Hurricanes will play seven more games against each other.

This will be an interesting Panthers at Hurricanes betting pool.

Central Division Clash

It is no secret that the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes are both in the Central division chasing after the Tampa Bay Lightning. Topping the Lightning is a tall task, but neither team is backing down, making this matchup a very crucial one. Currently, the Panthers are the No. 2 seed in the division, with the Hurricanes at No. 3, but there is a three-way tie between the Panthers, Hurricanes, and Blackhawks, all having 20 points. As mentioned earlier, this is the first of eight games between the Panthers and Hurricanes, so losing the first one will not overly affect their season, but winning it helps.

Panthers Stars

For Florida, left wing Jonathan Huberdeau has been exceptional, leading the team with 17 points, including five goals and 12 assists. Center Carter Verhaeghe leads the Panthers with seven goals, and Huberdeau leads the team in assists with 12. Sergei Bobrovsky has won five out of seven starts with one loss and one overtime loss, but Bob needs to allow fewer goals per game, as the fans call him.

Bobrovsky has allowed an average of 3.3 goals per game with a save percentage of only 88 percent. Backup goalie Chris Driedger has started in six games behind Bobrovsky and has done better, posting four wins with one loss and one overtime loss, allowing on average 2.3 goals per game and saving 92.5 percent of shots.

Hurricane Season

The Hurricanes come into this game with veteran Jordan Staal leading the team in points having 14 with six goals and eight assists. Brock McGinn is leading the Hurricanes with seven goals, and Sebastian Aho leads the team with nine assists. James Reimer is the Hurricanes goalie, and he is similar to Bobrovsky but needs to allow fewer goals per game. Reimer has won seven of them with one loss in eight starts, allowing 3.1 goals per game and saving 89.5 percent of shots.

Expect Goals

Both of these goalies, on average, allow more than three goals per game. Expect there to be plenty of shots and shots finding the back of the net.

Last Five Games

Panthers (3-2)

Of late, the Florida Panthers have been a very good team especially coming off of a three-game series against the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning where they won two games.

Hurricanes (4-1)

The Carolina Hurricanes have also been a very good team of late and are currently on a three-game winning streak. So far this season, Carolina has done a good job at beating up the central division’s bottom feeders.

Panthers at Hurricanes Betting Odds

Panthers +1.5 (-170) Moneyline (+140) Over/Under 6 (-110)

Hurricanes -1.5 (+155) Moneyline (-150) Over/Under 6 (-110)

Panthers at Hurricanes Prediction: Panthers +1.5

In this matchup, I like the Panther’s puck line as a safe bet. Both of these teams have had success of late, and I expect this to be a high-scoring game. Taking the Panthers +1.5 goals, I feel, is a very safe bet as the Panthers have a chance at winning this game outright.
