PointsBet Partners with NHL
The National Hockey League is looking to continue its part in the US sports betting industry. Earlier this week, the NHL agreed to a multi-year strategic partnership with PointsBet.PointsBet will issue the NHL 43,106 shares, which are worth about $556,000 over the next three years.
This will make PointsBet the fourth official sports betting partner of the NHL. Other partners include MGM Resorts International, FanDuel, and William Hill.
As PointsBet becomes an official partner of the NHL, they will gain access to official league data and stats.
This will benefit in-play betting options at PointsBet and will give users a better experience. PointsBet will also receive the right to use NHL marks and logos.
The deal gives PointsBet the ability to present its sportsbook content on live NHL game broadcasts and on all NHL media partners such as NBC Sports, NBC Sports Regional Networks, and Altitude TV.

This partnership will allow PointsBet to strengthen its relationship with partner NBC. NBC and PointsBet signed a deal last August that includes $393 million in committed marketing spending. NBC and the NHL have a 10 year, $2 billion agreement that will expire after this season.
But the news of PointsBet partnering with them is an indicator the NHL will remain a partner of NBC networks. PointsBet, NBC Sports, and the NHL have started such integrations for the 2020-2021 season, including the incorporation of PointsBet odds data and insight to complement the pregame, in-game, and postgame broadcasts.
PointsBet was not a familiar name in the United States until 2019.
The company first launched in Australia and then decided to launch in New Jersey and has grown incredibly since then.
The Vegas Golden Knights are currently the favorite at +675, followed by the Colorado Avalanche. These teams are in the same conference and would have to play in the Western Conference finals to see who will advance to the Championship.
It seems like Pointsbet is here to stay and will help to promote and propel the NHL more into our collective consciousness.
