The Barstool Sportsbook officially entered the sports betting business in September 2020 and has since established itself as one of the best online sports betting providers in the United States. Owned by Barstool Sports, one of the largest media companies that focus on pop culture and sports, Barstool Sportsbook is just of many products of sports media companies who decided to venture into the world of sports betting.

The Barstool Sportsbook was launched as an exciting project by Barstool Sports and Penn National Gaming. Thanks to the big-name brands involved in the development of the sportsbook, it quickly gained the attention of the betting community.

Barstool’s irreverence and huge social medial following brought value on the digital side, whereas Penn National Gaming added their well-established infrastructure to make everything happen.

Barstool Sportsbook did not need long to establish itself as a legitimate contender in the industry, largely thanks to its excellent mobile app and overall quality of the service. Adding to that, Bartsool’s explosive expansion into new states helped it emerge as one of the leading sports betting providers.

The sportsbook offers an excellent mobile app, a rich selection of betting markets, competitive odds, and fantastic promotions and bonuses. But there’s more to like about the sportsbook, and we will explore some of the amazing features it has, as well as the cons of the Barstool Sportsbook.

History

Barstool Sports first announced its plans to enter the sports betting world in January 2020, when it was revealed that Penn National Gaming purchased a 36% stake in the company for $163 million. Penn has also reached the terms of boosting its stake to 50% within three years by paying an additional $63 million.

The Barstool Sportsbook initially launched in Pennsylvania in September 2020, becoming the 10th legal sportsbook in the state. It has since expanded into Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana, Tennesee, Colorado, and Arizona and now operates across nine states.

It all started with the launch of Barstool Sportsbook in Pennsylvania, with Michigan and Illinois following suit. Then, in May, Barstool reached Indiana and expanded in Arizona two months later.

Colorado and Virginia joined the list in early August 2021, while New Jersey followed as the next destination for Barstool Sportsbook later that month. Iowa is Barstool’s most recent expansion, having reached the state in November 2021; however, Maryland could join the list if the current plans come through by early 2022.

PROS

There are plenty of things to like about Barstool Sportsbook, and while its main strength remains a rich offer of betting markets, there are few other things to look forward to when creating a Barstool betting account.

  • REPUTATION: Barstool Sportsbook is operated by Barstool Sports with a wealth of industry knowledge
  • PROMOTIONS: Barstool Sportsbook has an excellent offer of unique promotions
  • BETTING MARKETS: Barstool has one of the best selections of betting markets
  • MOBILE APP: Excellent mobile betting app, which is easy to use and exceeds the industry standard

CONS

Like any other sports betting provider, even Barstool has its flaws. However, those are relatively minor and likely won’t affect your overall experience. Still, here are two things Barstool Sportsbook should work on:

  • LIMITED WITHDRAWAL OPTIONS: There are only four withdrawal options available
  • BETTING ODDS: For some sports, the odds are excellent, but Barstool’s odds on a select few sports are below the industry average

5 Reasons to Play at Barstool Sportsbook

Regardless of its flaws, Barstool Sportsbook does a lot of things right. Here are five reasons why you should play at Barstool.

  1. Excellent mobile app
  2. Outstanding promotions and bonuses
  3. Great markets
  4. In-Play betting is available
  5. Reputable brand

Barstool Sportsbook Physical Locations (USA)

Bartsool Sportsbook initially launched in Pennslyvania, where it currently owns a land-based sportsbook at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course. It has since expanded into eight other states; however, not all states feature a retail Barstool Sportsbook.

You can visit a Barstool Sportsbook at:

Colorado

  • Ameristar Casino Black Hawk

Michigan

  • Greektown Casino

Illinois

  • Hollywood Casino

Pennsylvania

  • Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course

Indiana

  • Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg

While Barstool Sportsbook is available in New Jersey, there are currently no retail locations in the state. Nor are there any retail sportsbooks in Iowa, Virginia, Tennessee and Arizona. However, with time it’s fair to expect more land-based Barstool sportsbooks to open their doors.

Mobile Betting at Barstool Sportsbook

If you’re a fan of mobile sports betting, Barstool Sportsbook is the place to be. It offers dedicated sports betting app for free for iOS and Android devices, available for download via App Store and Google Store, respectively.

And not only is Barstool Sportsbook app known for its availability, but also its speed. Logging into the app doesn’t take longer than a few seconds, and switching between the screens is nearly instantaneous. There are no qualms here.

What’s more, Barstool Sportsbook mobile app is very stable, and we did not experience any crashes while testing the site.

The appearance of the mobile app is entirely subjective; however, there is no denying that Barstool Sportsbook looks excellent. It has a very similar appearance to the Barstool Sports app, except that the sportsbook app is clean and uncluttered.

The top of the app offers the basics in the navigation menu and account balance, clicking on which redirects you to the deposit and withdrawal options and transaction history. Under that is a slider bar with daily promotions and deposit come-ons, with Barstool exclusives – such as odds boosts – underneath.

With everything you would ever want just a couple of taps away, it’s more than fair to say that the Barstool Sportsbook app is easy to navigate. The buttons are responsive, and there are no issues whatsoever – the app as a whole receives a thumbs up from us.

One major missed opportunity Barstool has made with its mobile app is integrating more media content. Barstool Sports is brimming with unique gambling content on its media platforms and website, yet there is no integration of the content with the app.

Banking Options

Barstool Sportsbook’s banking options are both its strength and weakness. While it offers plenty of deposit options, Barstool severely lacks withdrawal methods, which is hard to justify and gives the impression that the sportsbook would much rather accept your money than give it to you.

Jokes aside, Barstool is working on widening its withdrawal options, so we can expect it to improve in that department. However, until it does, we have to give Barstool’s banking options a thumbs down.

Deposit Options

If you wish to deposit money into a Barstool Sportsbook betting account, you have plenty of options, with different processing times. However, on a more positive note, all options’ processing times are instant, except for wire transfers, which can take from one to three banking days.

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • Maestro
  • Discover
  • PayNearMe
  • Wire Transfer
  • PayPal
  • Bank Transfer
  • eCheck
  • Play+
  • Online Banking

Withdrawal Options

  • eCheck
  • Check by mail
  • PayPal
  • Play+
  • Sports Offered

At Barstool Sportsbook, you can bet on virtually anything. Of course, there’s some hyperbole in that statement; however, you can be sure that Barstool covers all the sports you would ever expect to see on a reputable sportsbook and more!

Some of the sports you will be able to find on Barstool Sportsbook and bet on include (but are not limited to):

  • Soccer
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Golf
  • Darts
  • Pool
  • Snooker
  • Winter Sports
  • Boxing
  • Rugby
  • MMA
  • Table Tennis
  • Cycling
  • Motorsports
  • Cricket

However, keep in mind that those sports are not limited to the United States teams and leagues. Barstool Sportsbook covers all major and some minor leagues across the world, so if you want to bet on a Norwegian soccer league or a Venezuelan table tennis match, you will be able to with Barstool.

Bet Types

No matter how good a sportsbook looks, the quality of its service comes down to the offered markets, available bet types, and the quality of the betting odds. Admittedly, some bookmakers do the three jobs better than Barstool, but Barstool Sportsbook is competitive enough in all three areas to be considered as a solid sportsbook.

One area you should always check to reveal the quality of the sports betting service is the prop bets. Some sportsbooks that have low liquidity in the market will see big swings in odds – but Barstool is just fine in that aspect.

Beyond offering a vast selection of prop bets with competitive odds, Barstool Sportsbook also covers:

  • Moneyline
  • Spread
  • Totals
  • Parlays
  • Teasers
  • In-Play Bets
  • InPlay Betting

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Barstool Sportsbook offers in-play betting – as any reputable sportsbook does. While it has a few flaws, namely the lack of several common live betting features (live match tracker), it does the job fine and offers all the betting options you would ever want, including prop bets.

Barstool live betting covers all major sporting events and even some minor leagues; however, we wouldn’t count on live odds for minor competitions or some less popular sports. Still, you can be sure that Barstool Sportsbook will offer odds on NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL, and other major leagues across the season.

The site is comparable to other major sportsbooks in in-play market depth but stands out with its unique content, presented alongside in-play betting events. While most other sportsbooks can offer pre-game shows, only Barstool can provide you with a unique take on sports commentary with its Sports Advisors Show.

There are areas where Barstool Sportsbook could improve its in-play betting service, but overall it does a lot of things right and is the place to be if you wish to enjoy some live betting.

Loyalty Program

Many sportsbooks won’t award you for your activity on the site. However, that’s not the case with Barstool Sportsbook who offers an exciting loyalty program.

Barstool Sportsbook loyalty program is tied with all of Penn’s Nationals retail properties, including Hollywood Online Casino in Pennsylvania and Barstool Online Casino in Michigan, named “MyChoice” program.

You will earn special “MyChoice” points through the online Barstool Sportsbook as well as any of Penn National Gaming platforms simply by being active. As promoted by Barstool, all customers earn one point per each $10 wagered on straight bets and one point for each $5 bet on parlays.

Based on the number of points you generate, you will get placed into one of the five tiers, each with better rewards and perks.

MyChoice Loyalty Program Tiers

  • Choice – 0-999 points
  • Advantage – 1000-17,999 points
  • Prefered – 18,000 – 49,999 points
  • Elite – 50,000 – 199,999 points
  • Owners Club – 200,000+

You can use these points to unlock special rewards, bonuses and promotions. Besides MyChoice points, users are also earning MyCash points, which can be redeemed for Barstool merchandise dining comps, hotel stays, and bonus cash on any of the MyChoice online sportsbooks or casinos.

Customer Support

An important part of any sportsbook is its customer support options and the quality of the service. Oddly, some of the top sportsbooks lack excellent customer service, while sportsbooks that offer excellent customer support usually lack in other areas.

Barstool Sportsbook is different from most other sportsbooks in the way that it offers excellent sports betting service and great customer service to all of its users. The live chat feature is available 24/7, while its extensive FAQ section provides great answers to some of the most common issues you might encounter on the site.

Barstool Sportsbook’s dedicated customer support page includes the aforementioned live chat window, as well as help form, email address and a request callback option. Overall, Barstool Sportsbook has all the customer support options covered, and considering the high grades it’s receiving for its support service, it’s more than fair to say that any issuers you might encounter on the site will be resolved without a hitch.

Other Features

Nowadays, it’s hard to revolutionize sports betting, and Barstool Sportsbook isn’t one to try and do that. However, it does have a plethora of unique bets and special features for you to choose from.

Quick Pick 6 – a special parlay builder that provides recommendations for building a winning parlay, with odds ranging from -120 to +200

Early Cash-Out – like any sportsbook, Barstool offers a cash-out feature, allowing customers to collect cash from their open bets before the game ends

Bet With Barstool – allows users to wager on bets made by Barstool Sports personalities

Daily Odds BoostsBarstool Sportsbook offers daily odds boosts, often boosting up the odds on selected markets by up to +50

Owner Testimonial

You don’t have to be a fan of Barstool to enjoy an excellent betting experience on Barstool Sportsbook. The site and its mobile app are easy to use and user-friendly, providing the customers with all the tools they would ever want and more.

Beyond that, Barstool Sportsbook offers all the features you would expect in a reputable sportsbook, including excellent bonuses, daily promotions, odds boosts, and much more. There are not many brands that run their sportsbooks as well as Barstool, and there are even fewer reasons why you shouldn’t try it out for yourself.

Summary

One area where Barstool Sportsbook is significantly better than most of its competition is the fanbase it has built around the brand. Although most of its fanbase came directly from the well-established Barstool Sports, the sportsbook wouldn’t be able to keep ahold of the large following had it offered mediocre online sports betting service.

At Barstool Sportsbook, you will get to enjoy what can only be described as a premium online sportsbook experience. And that is largely thanks to its large selection of betting markets, bet types, competitive odds, as well as the excellent layout of the site and efficiency of Barstool Sportsbook’s mobile app.

During our testing, there wasn’t a lot we could criticize about Barstool Sportsbook, and while there are areas where it could have done better, namely the offered odds on select sports, the overall experience is truly great. Adding to all the great features you will be able to take full advantage of while betting on Barstool Sportsbook; the customers will also get to enjoy Barstool’s and Penn’s National loyalty program, great bonuses, and excellent promotions.

Barstool Sportsbook has everything you would ever want to see in an online sportsbook and much more. And while its withdrawal process is still lacking, that’s a relatively minor issue the site should be able to address and improve on.

You can’t go wrong with Barstool Sportsbook, and if you’re a fan of Barstool Sports and are looking for a great online sports betting site, there really isn’t any other better option for you than the Barstool Sportsbook.
