Arsenal and Chelsea will meet on August 1 for the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in London. The two finalists beat the odds and won against their opponents on Saturday and Sunday.

Semi-Finals Review

Arsenal stunned the defending champions, Manchester City, 2-0 with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring both of the goals. He scored a goal in each half, and the team’s main center back, David Luiz, brought an outstanding performance to help lead the team to a precious win. After beating Liverpool last week, Arsenal shocked the world once more.

Despite losing 3-0 to Manchester City in their first game back from the COVID-19 lockdown, Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta used various tactics to pull off the victory. He was able to set up their defense and use the likes of Aubameyang to beat Man City. Arteta was the former Man City assistant coach and beat his old boss Pep Guardiola.

Man City had the lead for possession and passes in both the first and second half. They made exceptional passes and plays, but were not able to execute and missed many chances to score.

Chelsea Beats Manchester United 3-1

Although Manchester United won the previous three matches against Chelsea, they were unable to book their spot in the finals after losing 1-3 to Chelsea in the FA Cup Semifinals. Man United goalkeeper David De Gea was blamed for the team’s loss.

De Gea’s first mistake came in the 11th minute of the first half when Olivier Giroud’s shot was pushed into his own goal by De Gea. Mason Mount of Chelsea scored the second goal after his long-range shot went to the net after it grazed De Gea’s gloves.

De Gea managed to play exceptionally well after the two mistakes. However, Harry Maguire scored their third goal in the 74th minute.

Man United fans’ confidence in De Gea plummeted after his sloppy performance. Some fans mocked him on social media and expressed anger towards the Spanish player that he is not worthy of being in the starting XI.

Final Preview (Arsenal vs. Chelsea)

The FA Cup trophy will be returning to London as Chelsea, 2018 winners, and Arsenal, 2017 winners, faceoff in a repeat of the 2017 final. Either Frank Lampard or Mikel Arteta will hoist the trophy in their debut season as managers of either club.

Arsenal and Chelsea Rivalry

Their rivalry, also known as the North West London Derby, has been around for a long time. Overall, Arsenal has won more games in the rivalry’s history, having won 76 times while Chelsea only won 65 and drew 59 times.

The clubs have contested in four major finals, the 2002 FA Cup final, 2007 League Cup final, 2017 FA Cup final, and 2019 Europa League final. The two teams took two trophies each and will meet again in the 2020 FA Cup final for their fifth major final match-up. This season, Chelsea took the win in their first match and drew 2-2 in the next game.

The Gunners have beaten the best two teams in Premier League this season. They exhibited the kind of commitment, focus, and discipline many of the component parts have often lacked. Despite the financial insufficiency that inhibits investments to help restore the team’s former glories, Arteta is using his team wisely and tactics to beat stronger teams.

Chelsea also broke the odds and beat Manchester United to reach the final. They have a young squad and have shown qualities that suggest they are title contenders. Even though people doubted that Chelsea could even be in the top four of the Premier League, they are standing third with only two games left.

Because of their tactical decision-making and team efficiency, Arsenal is my favorite to win the 2020 FA Cup final.
