It has been a busy summer for most of the soccer clubs across different leagues in the world. Players have departed while others have signed for the clubs. The teams have prepared for the 2023/24 season with squad strengthening. 

As the window closes on 31st September 2023, we take a look into the highlights of the window and some of the major transfers that occurred in the long run specifically for the English Premier League clubs.

Arsenal Signed Declan Rice From West Ham

One of the most fascinating signings was Declan Rice, the Hammers captain. He was a key target for top-flight leagues with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal eyeing his services. Mikel Arteta’s need for strengthening his midfield was critical and he could do anything to have the player at Emirates.

Declan Rice won the European Cup for West Ham before leaving. It was an exceptional way to leave the club that he captained for a while and contributed to its success.  He played 245 games for 9 years for the club and managed 15 goals as a midfielder. He was solid in the midfield helping West Ham beat top clubs in the premier league.

Declan Rice later penned down a five-year deal running to 2028. The deal is worth $138 million and one of the most expensive signings in the 2023 summer window.

Moises Caicedo Signed for Chelsea FC

Another key signing in the summer transfer window was the Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo. He was a key part of the success of Brighton under Roberto De Zerbi. Caicedo has been on the radar of clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. 

However, the player penned down a huge contract of about £110m ($140m). It was one of the best businesses for Brighton that commanded a pool of talented players.

The late Drama between Chelsea and Liverpool almost saw the player join Liverpool who made an overnight bid. However, the player preferred to join Chelsea as his favorite club. He is set to play for the club through his eight-year contract with an option to extend it.

Kai Havertz from Chelsea to Arsenal for £65m

The German professional attacking midfielder signed for Arsenal from Chelsea. The player plays as a forward for Arsenal. He left Chelsea after helping them win the 2021 UEFA Champions League against Manchester City. Harvetz scored the only goal.

Arsenal looked ahead to strengthen their forward and attacking side, leading them to sign Kai Harvetz. The player signed a five-year deal that runs to 2023 at a record fee of £65m. Arsenal has a complete squad to help them pay into the Champions League and other competitions.

Harry Kane Signed for Bayern Munich

Another top player who moved out of the English Premier League top cub Tottenham was Harry Kane. The player has been instrumental in guiding the team to successful levels in the Champions League and Premier League.

Kane has been at the club for 19 years making him one of the key players to have been at the club. His move to Munich will see him play in a new league. His contract was worth £120 million ($152m).  Kane has signed a four-year deal with Bayern Munich. 


The player said, “I’m very happy to be part of Bayern, one of the biggest clubs in the world and I’ve always said that I want to move and prove myself at the highest level in my career”
