Several new players have joined Leeds United this summer after Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips both left the team. Two of the most notable two players who joined the club are Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.

In Leeds United’s first match of their new season, Adams and Aaronson both made significant contributions that led to the win. It was an encouraging opening game of the season for the team as multiple players made their debuts.

Aaronson and Adams Are Excellent in Leeds United’s First Game

Leeds United defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in their first game of the English Premier League season last Saturday. Leeds finished last season in 17th place, just three points away from relegation, and last weekend’s win was a good start to the season in a year in which the team hopes to avoid the relegation battle.

Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams, who both signed for the team this summer, were two of the main reasons why Leeds United won the game. Both have experience playing for manager Jesse Marsch in the past, which could be one of the reasons why Leeds United had so much success on Saturday.

Wolverhampton took an early lead in last Saturday’s game when Daniel Podence scored in the sixth minute to give the team the lead. However, Leeds United responded by creating multiple opportunities to score.

Several of those opportunities were created by Aaronson. During the entire afternoon on Saturday, Aaronson constantly pressured each pass made by Wolverhampton after a change in possession. Marsh’s system emphasizes pressing, and Aaronson helped Leeds United force Wolverhampton to make turnovers.

Eventually, in the 24th minute, that led to a goal. Aaronson made a tackle that eventually meant Leeds United took possession. Rodrigo then scored a goal to tie the game at 1-1.

Entering the second half, the score remained tied. In the 74th minute, Adams made a forward pass to Mateusz Klich. Klich, who was about five yards outside of the Wolverhampton penalty area, then passed to Patrick Bamford.

Bamford had the ability to pass the ball to Aaronson on the other side of the goal. Leeds United scored when the ball deflected off Rayan Ait-Nouri, but Aaronson played a key role in the goal, and was momentarily given credit for the goal before it was eventually made an own goal.

Adams played a vital role in helping score the second goal, but also played well defensively. As a result, Leeds United was able to maintain their lead and win the opening game of the season 2-1.

Aaronson was one of the best players in last Saturday’s game and was an important part of both goals Leeds United scored. Adams provided excellent defense and also helped score the second goal.

What This Means for Leeds United Moving Forward

Saturday’s win was a fantastic way for Leeds United to start the season after entering the final day of last season in danger of being relegated. It helped the team start the season positively, and it was also an excellent first game for Adams and Aaronson, two of the team’s most important transfer signings.

Aaronson has been excellent over the past few seasons at both Red Bull Salzburg and as a member of the United States national team. His experience playing for Marsch was on display last weekend, as his pressure helped Leeds United create chances and ultimately led to the game-tying goal.

Adams has established himself as one of the most important players in the United States national team’s midfield over the last few years. His ability to make passes such as the one that helped score Leeds’ second goal and his excellent defense make him a phenomenal midfield player, and should help him have success in the Premier League.

The main goal for Marsch and Leeds United this season will be avoiding relegation. Adams and Aaronson’s excellent performance in the team’s opening weekend win will give more confidence to Marsch and Leeds United that the team can have success this season.
