31-year-old Boca Juniors midfielder Eduardo Salvio has been accused by his ex-wife of performing a hit-and-run.

The estranged wife’s name is Magali Aravena; in a complaint registered with local police, she alleges that Salvio struck her with his car while driving, leaving her with minor injuries. Aravena and Salvio split up recently.

Salvio’s attorney, Mariano Cuneo Libarona, told the TyC Sports channel that his client intends to appear before authorities “to clear everything up and demonstrate that he is innocent.”

Aravena’s complaint alleges the two were arguing near his vehicle, where he was accompanied by another woman. She says that his front tire struck her leg as he drove away.

Aravena was taken care of by an ambulance crew and later filed a case of gender violence after the prosecutor’s office advised her to do so.

Eduardo Salvio is known for his tenures at Atletico Madrid, Benfica, and the Argentinian national soccer team, where he played as a midfielder and attacker. He currently plays for Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Boca Juniors posted a statement on its website, offering to help both Salvio and Aravena while the matter is revoked.
