ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup 2020 will come to a close this Sunday, March 8, when the high-flying Indian national team takes on the host nation of Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. We have a betting prediction for your wager.

On Friday, February 21, at 7:00 pm at Sydney Showground the 2020 ICC World Twenty20 Women’s World Cup was officially on the way and it was no other than Australia and India that opened the seventh iteration of the tournament in front of 13,400 spectators, who looked in shock as it was the Indian squad who came out on top by 17 runs.

Now, 16 days later, those two sides will meet once more in the one last dance of the tournament, which will pin together the four-times World Champions and No.1 team in the world against the only undefeated team of the World Cup.T20 World Cup

India Odds: +137

India had a tough road to the World Cup finals, but they made it look like a walk in the park. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team did not lose a single match throughout the whole tournament, winning all five fixtures, which included a commanding 132:115 win over Australia in the opening match of the World Cup. Following their superb display against the No.1 team in the world, India went on to defeat Bangladesh (142:124), New Zealand (133:130) and Sri Lanka (116:113) to end the group stage with a perfect 4-0 record.

Entering the playoffs, India were to meet with England, however, saw their semi-finals appearance washed out due to heavy rain which ushered the organizers to abandon the match. Because there was no reserve day for the semi-finals, India got a direct bye into their maiden World Cup final due to having a stronger group stage record, which was unfortunate, given that England are historically a stronger team when playing against India.

Suffice to say, India have a lot to prove and a great chance to do so, as they will look to derail Australia for the second time this tournament to pocket their maiden World Cup title.

Player to watch out for: Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur has aggregated 26 runs in four matches so far and is the only player with sub-10 average. That might be shocking to see, however, there is no denying Kaur is still one of the best white-ball players in the world and a player that is not to be ignored.

Kaur has shown numerous times before she is the archetypal big-match player and to be fair, there are not many bigger matches than a World Cup finals. She will play a pivotal role in her team’s success against Australia not only with her individual performance but also her leadership skills. If there is one player that can lead India to the Worlds title, it’s Kaur, who already turned this young squad into a fearless team which has been playing exceptionally well throughout the tournament

Australia Odds: -175

The most successful Women’s cricket team in the world will look to add a fifth World Cup trophy to their cabinet on the International Women’s Day when they face off against India, who has already caused them a great deal of trouble in the group stage.

Following their loss to India on the opening day of the tournament, Australia went on and edged past Sri Lanka (123:122), trashed Bangladesh (189:103) and defeated their neighbors New Zealand (155:151) to book a spot in the playoffs. There, Australia overcame the wet conditions and outclassed South Africa (92:134) to pocket their sixth consecutive World Cup finals appearance.

Although there is no denying Australia is an exceptionally strong team, facing India won’t be a walk in the park. The Australian women have put in some underwhelming performances throughout the tournament and it’s hard to be overly optimistic with their chances to win here. What’s more, they won’t be able to on Ellyse Perry, who has suffered an injury.

That said, Australia are known to switch into a higher gear when on the final stage. The biggest factor that separates Australia from other teams, besides the quality of their players, is their unmatched ability to handle pressure and in a fixture of such importance, which alone goes a long way. But will that be enough?

Player to watch out for: Beth Mooney

Beth Mooney has been Australia’s highest run-getter throughout 2020 World T20 tournament with 181 runs in five matches. That puts her only 19 runs short of becoming the third player from her nation to amass 200+ runs in a single edition of the World Cup and 76 runs short of establishing herself as the highest Australian run-getter in a single tournament.

Overall the Aussies have been impressive as far as batting is concerned, as four of their batswomen amassed 100+ runs throughout the tournament. The two openers in Beth Mooney and Alysa Healy were both impressive, yet it’s Mooney who showed more with 181 runs and 45.25, with two half-centuries.  Although her teammate Alysa Healy is no pushover with 161 at 32.20 and two half-centuries, we are confident it will be Mooney who will outshine her three-year older compatriot.

All the pressure will be on Australian squad to deliver and win their fifth World Cup title in front of their home crowd this Sunday, to properly celebrate the International Women’s Day. That, however, might be tougher than it seems.

Although still the No.1 team in the world, we are not all too impressed with the Australian Women, who have failed to show any real form, as they put in some less-than-impressive performances so far. We also can’t ignore the fact that India already bested them in the opening match of the World Cup.

Since that impressive win, India looked like the best team of the tournament, having showcased immense quality, which earned them an undefeated run right up to their maiden finals appearance.

The young and talented Indian squad looks very dangerous and it’s hard to understand why they are priced as the underdog here. Australia might have the home ground advantage and more experienced individuals, but their overall performance was rather lackluster. For that reason, we like the Indian Women better and at the provided odds, backing them to win provides us with a great betting opportunity.

Another bet that is worth looking at is backing Beth Mooney to finish the finals as Australian top batsman. Although Alysa Healy could impress and outscore Mooney, she tends to start off her games very aggressively, which does not always work as planned. With that in mind, why we will instead side with Mooney to go the distance and at 3.10 (Bet365), she is worth a punt.

Prediction: India to win +137
Prediction: Beth Mooney top team’s batsman +210
