Juventus Transfer News – Hope That Pogba, Di Maria Can Help Team Win Serie A Title

Juventus have had an uncharacteristic last few seasons. The 36-time champions of Italy have not won the title since 2020, and finished fourth in the league last season. Last year, the team finished 16 points behind champions A.C. Milan.

As the team hopes to return to title contention they have been very active in the transfer window. Angel Di Maria recently signed with the team, and Paul Pogba is also nearing a return to the club.

Angel Di Maria Signs With Juventus

After an incredible career at PSG, Angel Di Maria signed with Juventus earlier this transfer window. The 34-year-old forward left PSG after his contract expired at the end of last season.

During his time at PSG Di Maria was one of the team’s best players. Across 197 Ligue 1 appearances he scored 57 goals to go along with 76 assists. He has also made 99 Champions League appearances across his career, scoring 22 times with 35 assists.

Di Maria has played in Portugal, Spain, France, England, and now Italy during his career. He will immediately help boost a Juventus attack that scored the fewest goals of any team that finished in the Top 7 of Serie A last season.

After signing Di Maria, Juventus have looked to sign another player whose contract recently expired. This time it is a former player for the team, whose contract is almost finalized with the club.

Paul Pogba Set to Return to Italy

Paul Pogba left Juventus in 2016 for what was, at the time, a world record transfer fee to return to Manchester United. Pogba had joined Juventus in 2012 from Manchester United, where he had spent time in the English club’s youth academy.

When Pogba played for Juventus he developed into one of the best midfielders in the world. He was a member of the 2015 UEFA Team of the Year during his time with the team. Before leaving for Manchester United, Pogba scored 28 goals and had 28 assists across 124 games in Serie A for Juventus.

After returning to United, Pogba became a key player for the team under Jose Mourinho. However, during his time at the club, Pogba played for three different managers and Manchester United continued to have issues returning to Premier League and Champions League title contention.

Pogba still had significant success at United despite the instability at the club. He scored 29 goals and had 41 assists during his Manchester United career, along with one goal and four assists during his 13 matches in the FA Cup.

Towards the end of his tenure at Manchester United, there were constant Juventus transfer news rumors about Pogba leaving the club, even as early as the 2019 summer transfer window. However, Manchester United and Pogba entered the final season of his contract last year in negotiations on an extension.

After the start of the season saw Manchester United make a managerial change, eventually bringing in Erik ten Hag, it became clear that Pogba would depart the club. Now, as a free agent, Pogba is likely to return to Juventus.

The move should be good for both Pogba and the team. The best seasons of Pogba’s career came in his time at Juventus, and he will help the team’s midfield improve as they hope to take a step forward this season.

For Juventus transfer news, signing Di Maria and Pogba on free transfers is a way to quickly improve the team ahead of next season. Both players will help the club improve on offense, which was an area that needed to be addressed this summer. In addition, the team will still have the opportunity to complete more moves ahead of next season.
