• Leeds have yet to win a match this season
  • Liverpool have not lost to Leeds once since 2000
  • Salah in a goalscoring mood

Leeds will play host to Liverpool at Elland Road on Sunday, September 12, in the fourth round of the English Premier League. Having yet to win a match this term, Leeds will hope to cause an upset the Reds, which might be easier said than done.

Liverpool and Leeds last met at the Elland Road in April, when Leeds forced a 1-1 draw, marking the first time they’ve managed to steal a point from the Reds since 2004 when they played a 2-2 draw at home.

Leeds Preview: Slow Start

Leeds haven’t done too well so far, as they enter their fourth round of the season with a 0-2-1 record and two points. In their season opener, the Whites got smashes by Manchester City (1-5); however, they did well enough to collect two points in the remaining two bouts.

In the second match of the season, Marcelo Bielsa’s men came back from behind to force a solid 2-2 draw against Everton and have produced a very similar showing during their trip to the Turf Moor, when Patrick Bamford helped his side scrape a 1-1 draw with a late 86’ goal.

Even though their position is not ideal, Leeds can be relatively happy with what they’ve shown so far – especially knowing that they were expected to have a slow start to the season.

For Sunday’s match, Bielsa can count on the influential winger Raphinha, while Mateusz Klich and Firpo could both feature, as they have recovered from COVID-19. However, defender Robin Koch will remain out with a groin injury.

Liverpool Preview: Solid Form and High Expectations

Liverpool travel to Leeds in great form, and without a single loss to their name this term. The Reds opened up the 2021/22 EPL campaign with a commanding 3-0 win against Norwich, to which they have added a 2-0 home victory against Burnley and a solid 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the end of August.

It’s worth noting that Liverpool could have won their bout with the Blues but were denied the glory by Edouard Mendy, who had a heroic performance on the day. At the same time, you could have expected a bit more from Jurgen Klopp’s men considering they were playing against ten men for the entire second half.

One thing we can take away from Liverpool’s games so far is how good this team has been on both sides of the pitch. Mohamed Salah looks to be in great shape, as he has netted in two of his last three Premier League appearances.

What’s more, while Virgil van Dijk isn’t 100% fit yet, he is still playing better than most – if not all – center-backs in the league. He seems to have formed a strong pairing with the recent signing, Ibrahima Konate, who has proven to be a huge asset to the team as a quick and skillful player.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Premier League Game

Last term, Liverpool took four points from Leeds with a 4-2 win at Anfield and a somewhat underwhelming 1-1 draw on Elland Road. The last meeting could have ended in a 1-0 victory for Liverpool, who got denied all three points with a late equalizer by Diego Llorente in 87’.

It’s also worth noting that Liverpool were not at full strength for their last trip to Elland Road, which happened during the Super League debacle. And despite all that, they came away with a point, which is impressive.

Now, Liverpool are not only at full strength but also in excellent form, having won seven of their last eight Premier League matches (stretching back into last season). Moreover, they’ve already disposed of Norwich and Burnley, while you can’t criticize Klopp’s men for their draw with Chelsea too much either.

Leeds are not an easy team to defeat at home, but based on what we’ve seen from these two sides so far this season, the visitors shouldn’t struggle too much to walk away with all three points. Take Liverpool to continue their unbeaten run and lock in their third W of the season!
