• A win for Manchester City will keep pressure on Chelsea
  • The Hammers are capable of scoring
  • Man City can’t afford to lose

Manchester City will host West Ham on Sunday, November 28, in the 13th round of the English Premier League (EPL). It will mark their second meeting of the season and the first since October when West Ham eliminated City from the EFL Cup.

That win (1-0) marked West Ham’s first head-to-head victory since 2015 – they have since lost 12 of the next 14 meetings. Given their previous success, City are expected to dominate, but the Hammers should never be underestimated.

West Ham Preview: The Hammers Can Do Some Damage

West Ham have had a fairly solid start to the season, and much of their success has been built around Michail Antonio. He has scored four goals in the first three games and was the key player to help West Ham rise into the top four.

However, his goals have dried up of late. Even though West Ham continued showing good form, Antonio struggled with his performances, as he has found a goal in only one of the last six Premier League outings.

Even though Antonio hasn’t produced much of late, he should not be ignored, and Pep Guardiola should be well aware of the threat the 31-year-old presents. Admittedly, Manchester City’s defense has been terrific this season, conceding only six goals in the league, but Antonio’s technical ability and his physicality could cause some issues even to the sturdy City’s defense.

Manchester City Preview: Sterling’s Strong Record Against West Ham

Manchester City have consistently done well against West Ham and haven’t lost a single head-to-head bout since 2015. What’s more, since Guardiola took over, City are 9-1-0 against the Hammers in the EPL, further suggesting that the hosts should be more than fine on Sunday.

A large part of City’s success in these meetings was thanks to Raheem Sterling, who has been involved in 11 goals (six goals, five assists) against West Ham. That includes a hat-trick in 2019.

Sterling is obviously not the only threat City has, but he is sure to cause some chaos in the visiting side’s defence. On a more positive note for West Ham, Kevin De Bruyne is out after he tested positive for COVID, but his absence was hardly missed in City’s dominant performance against PSG this week.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Soccer Game

With de Bruyne out, City are expected to continue with Phil Foden, who has done a great job replacing the Belgian midfielder. This should result in an interesting battle between Foden and Declan Rice, who will meet for the first time this season.

This clash will also heavily impact how the game will go. If Rice can shut down the 21-year-old, City will struggle to achieve much in the attack. But we can’t forget that City also fields Bernardo Silva, who is on the verge of scoring in three consecutive games for the first time since he joined City.

Admittedly, City are a far more stacked team, but West Ham are not getting much respect on the betting markets. They have done reasonably well this season and have the right tools to keep this one close. Take the Hammers with a +1.5 goal handicap.
