Manchester United got a much-needed win on Saturday against Tottenham to get back to their winning ways. United Manager Ole Solskjaer’s future was in contention prior to the game, but this victory buys him more time to prove himself as a capable manager for the Red Devils.

Manchester United moved up to fifth in the Premier League, ten games into the season. Tottenham dropped to eighth. United has 17 points and is eight points off the lead to Chelsea. Tottenham are only two points below United and look to improve their team with the hiring of Antonio Conte after the game to replace the struggling Nuno Santo.

Let’s dive into each of the goals that Manchester United scored and both teams next fixtures.

United’s Goals vs. Tottenham

Cristiano Ronaldo (39’)

The first of the three goals came in the 39th minute off of a lovely cross from Bruno Fernandes right onto the foot of Cristiano Ronaldo. He was able to finish off the goal with a beautiful volley to open up the scoring.

He appeared to have no angle to score the volley, but Ronaldo finished the cross with power and composure to push the goal past Hugo Lloris. That was Ronaldo’s fourth goal for Manchester United in the Premier League this season and seventh in total for United.

Edinson Cavani (64’)

Edinson Cavani got the second goal in the second half in the 64th minute after some incredible dribbling and passing from Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo on the counterattack. Cavani was able to pop it over the goalie to finish the 1v1 opportunity.

Cavani has been quiet this season as he has struggled to find his role with the new talent that has come into the team. This was his first goal in the Premier League for United this season, but he is hoping to find more luck as Solskjaer looks to change up the formation and tactics to bring United more success.

Marcus Rashford (86’)

The third goal was the icing on the cake for the Manchester United win as Nemanja Matic played a through ball into Marcus Rashford who was able to slot it home to give United the resounding 3-0 victory against Tottenham.

Rashford has been a nice spark for the Red Devils as he now has two goals in his three Premier League appearances. United will need him healthy if they want to make a push to fight for top of the table.
