Anthony Martial opened up the scoring in the 43rd minute against Everton, but Andros Townsend was able to level in the 65th minute to tie it up 1-1. This would be the final score of the game as United dropped more crucial points to stay within the early title race.

Manchester United Drop More Points

Manchester United is now tied with Manchester City, Everton, and Brighton with 14 points in 3rd place in the Premier League. This was a very winnable game for United, who need all the points they can get while they are trying to figure out how to play with the newcomers.

Ronaldo didn’t get the start in Saturday’s match.

Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench in Saturday’s match for what was his first league game for United that he didn’t start. Ole Solskjaer was probably hoping that the squad without Ronaldo could pull off the win without their star forward and give Ronaldo a break.

This didn’t prove to be the case as United struggled to figure it out without Ronaldo and their captain, Harry Maguire, who was still out with an injury. United will need to be all heads on deck as they can’t drop too many points to let the title race slip even further.

Jadon Sancho is still looking to find his rhythm.

Sancho has had some brilliant stretches on the ball when he blows by defenders with his cheeky footwork, but the consistency has not been there from the young phenom. He looks as if he is uncomfortable with his role on the team and needs to figure it out if United wants a shot at the title.

Ronaldo was able to set up Sancho with a great opportunity to score with a backheel pass near the 6-yard box, but Sancho was unable to convert as he hit it directly at the goalie. I am not worried about Jaden Sancho. He needs more games to figure out his role in the team.

Ole Solskjaer needs to turn it around sooner rather than later.

Ole has been able to do just enough to keep him in the driver’s seat for Manchester United along with a couple of last-minute wins. They were able to finish 2nd last year and are one of the favorites for the title this year.

With the additions of three top players, Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jaden Sancho, the pressure is on Ole to win trophies soon to keep his job as the manager of Manchester United.

Next Matchup

Manchester United will travel to Leicester City to, hopefully, get back on the right track vs. the 13th place team on Saturday morning at 10 am EST. Everton will host West Ham at home at 9 am EST on Sunday morning.

There will be no Champions League matchups until next week for Manchester United.
