Game Recap

Manchester United suffered their fifth loss of the season against a team that should be a cakewalk for the Red Devils. It was not only a defeat, but a thrashing that left the United side confused on how to move forward with Solskjaer.

The Watford star, Joshua King, got the scoring started in the 28th minute. Ismaila Sarr was able to get a second for Watford before the half. Donny Van de Beek got one back for United off a headed assist from Cristiano Ronaldo. They were gearing for the comeback before Harry Macguire got a red card in the 69th minute to take away any momentum for United.

Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis put two away in extra time to put the game away and kill the hopes for the Red Devils. This was United’s second loss in a row in the Premier League. Watford won just their fourth win of the season.

Ole’s Departure

After weeks of hope, Ole was not able to turn it around for Manchester United and eventually was sacked after this defeat. Manchester United fans wanted him to go because there was going to be no change without his departure, but it was sad to see him go as he is a United legend.

Ole Solskjaer left a heartfelt video interview after his departure that would put any fan in their feels. He voiced his appreciation for the fans, the players and the organization for his time as manager at Manchester United and wished that the results could’ve been different in his last year.

The departure of Ole does give United hope that they will be able to turn things around before it is too late. They should be able to make it out of the group stage of Champions League which they have as good of a chance as anybody to make a run and win it to salvage a big part of thie success of this season.

Mauricio Pochettino who is the current head coach for PSG is looked at as the favorite to take over for Ole Solskjaer after some reports saying that he would be interested in a move to Manchester. Michael Carrick, Brendan Rodgers, and Zinedine Zidane are the next favorites to take over.

Conclusion

However painful it was, Manchester United needed a change in the leader of this club. They have too much talent to be eighth in the Premier League. Champions League group play will return this week as Manchester United travels to Villareal Tuesday at 12:45 pm EST. This will be a battle of the heavyweights as both teams are tied at the top of Group F.
