MLS Chicago v New England Preview
In the preseason before the 2021 season begins we find the Fire has won five of six matches while the Revolution has won only one of five contests.
The Chicago Fire organization and manager Raphael Wicky have done nothing to help the team chances this year. No moves were made. It appears they are relying on the players to “buy in” to the system Wicky has set for his team to win more matches.
He will be asking for consistency from a squad that just won two of their finals 10 games last year. At home, Chicago won four games that saw them outscore their opponents 11-1. Also, Chicago lost four times on the Soldier Field turf.
In 2020, the Revs reached the finals of the Eastern Conference and re looking to improve on that. With manager Bruce Arena, this team will likely take as step forward but they have depth and experience and sorely look to bring home the hardware to the Boston area.
On the road, the Revolution won six and lost three along with two wins in the MLS Cup chase.

MLS Chicago vs New England Prediction
One thing missing for Chicago will be Stanislav Ivanov for knee surgery and should return near half way point. this put pressure on Alvaro Medran to improve his game.
Robert Beric will feel the heat to score more from the departures of Djordje Mihailovic and CJ Sapong.
The Revolution added some solid players with Christian Mafla and Wilfrid Kaptoum filling the void of experience as both have had almsot 200appearances in 10 seasons in Colombia.
Scoring for New England will be whatever Carles Gil can create. He led the team in assists for the previous two years. Teal Bunbury led in scoring in the shortened 2020 season
Chicago Fire possible starting lineup:
Shuttleworth; Bornstein, Calvo, Pineda, Espinoza; Gimenez, Medran, Herbers, Aliseda, Frankowski; Beric
New England Revolution possible starting lineup:
Turner; Kessler, Farrell, Mafla, Bye; Kaptoum, Polster, Traustason, Bou, Gil; Buksa
MLS Chicago vs New England Prediction
The Revolution have too much depth for Chicago to handle and the Fire has no real game plan.
Take New England +162
