The last couple of months there was speculation that Real Madrid was interested in Luka Jović, a 21-year-old striker from Eintracht Frankfurt. Both teams denied it until this week when Real Madrid announced on its official web site that it signed Jović for allegedly 60 million euros.
The Serbian striker had an excellent season in Bundesliga. He was great in Eintracht in offensive with Croatian striker Ante Rebić and his Serbian fellow citizen Mijat Gaćinović, and now he is going to be the striker of the biggest club in the world.
Madrid paid for him 60 million euro, writes Marca, with 5 million euros of bonuses. Even his former club Benfica has a profit of this transfer. There was a clause in the contract that said that Benfica has 30% of his next transfer, and we can say that it pays off for them.
After he passes the medical examination, the Serbian U-21 national team player will sign a contract with Real Madrid to 2025.
Jović has a great season behind himself this year. In 48 appearances, he scored 27 goals, with which he attracted the attention of many clubs. But in the end, Real Madrid was most prominent in the intention to bring him in the club.
“It is a big loss for us. His explosiveness and striker qualities spread out across Europe and we made a profit, not only for his goals, during the last two seasons. There was a financial threshold that we would sell him. For us, this is a good and important transfer. We wish him all the best in the future. He has the best qualities for a great career. We are proud that we could support him on this journey.” said Fredi Bobič, sports director of Eintracht Frankfurt.
This year he almost dragged his team in the finals of Europe League, where they lost against Chelsea on a penalty shootout. Luka scored both goals for Eintracht, one at home, and one at Stamford Bridge, and almost carried his team to the finals.
He started his career in Red Star Belgrade, and through Benfica and Eintracht Frankfurt he made his path to Real Madrid, one of the biggest football club in the history of this sport.
Zinedine Zidane was given a chance to change things around. Eden Hazard was one of the biggest wishes of Florentino Pérez, and he wanted him last year when Cristiano Ronaldo replaced Real Madrid with Juventus, but Hazard decided to stay at Chelsea. He could be confirmed as a new Real player these days, and there are speculations that he is going to be the new Real Madrid’s number seven. Real will give about € 160 million for Jović and Hazard, but of course, it will bring some boosts in the coming weeks.
French coach also wants Paula Pogba. With Jović, he solved the problem in the attack, and he now wants to strengthen the midfield and defense.
