Power Rankings MLS 1-10

  1. Seattle Sounders

They retain the top spot even after giving up an 80th minute goal to Raul Ruidiaz of the Atlanta United to come away with a 1-1 draw in the match. Their next MLS match is  May 29 vs. Austin, 9:30 p.m. ET

2. New England Revolution

They keep winning thanks to a goal and an assist from Gustavo Bou to lead a 3-1 win over NY Red Bulls. The next MLS match is  May 29 at FC Cincinnati, 3 p.m. ET,

3. Orlando Lions

Daryl Dike is back from loan to Barnsley and this will help tremendously. On Saturday, with Tesho Akindele netted the  game-winner for a 1-0 win over Toronto. The next MLS match is May 29 at New York Red Bulls, 1 p.m. ET.

4. Sporting Kansas City

KC comes in second in totals goals with 12 in the league and managed on win last Saturday with San Jose 3-1 with Alan Pulido scoring his fourth goals for the winner. Sporting’s next MLS match is May 29 vs. Houston, 8:30 p.m. ET.

5. Philadelphia Union

Kacper Przybliko’s goal was the lone scoring in a 1-0 in over D.C. United. The Next MLS match is  May 30 vs. Portland, 7 p.m. ET

6. LA Galaxy

This team and Philadelphia could switch spots as a tough call was made here. In last week match against the Portland Timbers, center back Derrick Williams went sliding into a challenge on Andy Polo with the ball in front of him. He took out Polo, sending him head over heels with no contact on the ball and received a red card. The Galaxy had a bad second half and ended with a 3-0 loss. Their next MLS match is May 29 vs. San Jose, 7 p.m.

7. Nashville SC

The club goes on the road for a few games after beginning with five of the first six at home. This will be a true test for Nashville SC. They next play on the road against Atlanta United on May 29 at 3:30 p.m. ET.

9. Columbus Crew

It took a pair of Lucas Zelarayan free kicks to defeat LAFC 2-1 and secure a victory.Next MLS match is May 29 vs. Toronto FC, 3 p.m. ET

10. Colorado Rapids

When LAFC got Carlos Vela back, that was a bad sign for the Rapids. Even though Rapid’s Michael Barrio had a goal at the 50 minute mark, it wasn’t enough and the  CR lost 2-1.  The next MLS match is  May 29 vs. FC Dallas, 9 p.m. ET.

Power Rankings MLS 11-20

12. NYFC

They lost to a better team in Columbus after a bright start. Sean Johnson needs to get better. Their next MLS match is  May 29 at LAFC, 5 p.m. ET.

13. Real Salt Lake

In their last match it ended in a 2-2 draw with Dallas as Rubio Rubin scored the first goal and Demir Kreilach put in a header on the 86th minute of the contest. Salt Lake will play Minnesota at 9:30 p.m. ET on May 29th for their next match.

 

Power Rankings MLS

14. Houston Dynamos

Last week the Dynamos won 2-1 over Vancouver as Memo Rodriquez and Maximiliano Urriti each score a goal. Houston is undefeated at home . Their next match is May 29, at 9 p.m. ET against Sporting Kansas City

15. Portland Timbers

The Timbers scored two goals in the second half taking advantage of the Galaxy and the Williams debacle leaving them with ten players. Portland won 3-0. Their next match is May 30 at Philadelphia at 7 p.m. ET.

16. Atlanta United FC

This team may end up being the best team in the MLS before the season is complete. Josef Martinez scored a late penalty kick to finish with a 1-1 draw facing the top team in Seattle Sounders Their next MLS match is May 29 vs. Nashville SC, 1:30 p.m. ET.

17. Austin FC

For the second consecutive week this team was held scoreless in a 1-0 loss to Nashville. Offense is a real concern for this new team. Things don’t get better next week as they take on the Seattle Sounders on May 30 at 9:20 p.m. ET.

18. San Jose Earthquakes

The Earthquakes have lost three in a row after losing 3-1 last week to Sporting Kansas City. Javier Eduardo “Chofis” Lopez scored  a goal in the four minute mark to get them started but that was it for the day. The next one could be tougher as the take on the LA Galaxy on My 29 with a 7 p.m. ER start.

19. New York Red Bulls

Losing a key defender in Aaron Long may change the trajectory of this team added to Andre Reyes’ ejection and the Red Bulls are on life support. Trending down. Now they entertain a good Orlando City team on May 29 st 1 p.m. ET.

20. Inter Miami

Miami lost 1-0 despite a very good game from the net in by John McCarthy.Next MLS match is  May 29 vs. D.C. United, 8 p.m. ET.

rankings 21-27 are given with on or very little comment. These teams are bad and struggling.
