The international breaks in Europe are coming round thick and fast, as this latest round of games in the Premier League will be the last fixtures played until November 20th. It promises to be a huge weekend of action, with the Manchester derby taking place on Saturday, but which picks should be made for the games this weekend?
Premier League Matchday 11 Preview
More Misery For United & Norwich
The pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has eased slightly over the past week with a win against Tottenham Hotspur and a draw in the Champions League against Atalanta. However, the defensive issues that have plagued United for weeks were once again on show in midweek. There are already similarities that are being drawn between the game against Atalanta before Liverpool’s huge victory against United, and the stats don’t give the Red Devils fans any more confidence.
While United is unbeaten in four league games against City, Pep Guardiola’s side has won seven games at Old Trafford in Premier League history. United’s record at Old Trafford is also weak, as they have lost seven at the Theatre of Dreams this calendar year. City themselves need to bounce back after a stunning defeat against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Norwich remains at the foot of the table, having lost for an eighth time this season against Leeds United last weekend. Brentford are the hosts this weekend, as they look for a first win in three. The Canaries have failed to score in their last five away games in the Premier League, and have conceded over 15 goals. Teams at the bottom of the standings also have a poor record against London-based sides, losing 19 of the last 20.
Conte Era Off To A Flyer, Wins For Wolves & Chelsea
The biggest Premier League story of the week is the return of Antonio Conte, who has replaced Nuno Espirito Santo. Conte was last seen in the Premier League with Chelsea, as he won the Premier League and FA Cup in a couple of seasons with the club. He faces a huge challenge at Spurs, and he stars with a game on the road against Everton. The Toffees have lost their last three, conceding eight goals. Spurs will likely sneak a win in Conte’s first game.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have been in excellent form recently, having won four of their last five. They visit Crystal Palace on Saturday, as the Eagles look for a second straight win. Wolves have an excellent record in this fixture since returning to the top-flight, as they have won four of the seven meetings. They have also kept clean sheets in all victories. History could repeat itself this weekend.
The banker of the weekend for many will come at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look for a fifth straight win. The Blues have won their last four against Burnley, and have scored 12 times during that run. Chelsea’s record at the Bridge is also very strong, as they have scored 16 goals in the five games that they have played. Burnley have scored just twice in four games against the Blues, and even last weekend’s first win of the season is unlikely to see them follow up with another victory.
