The international breaks in the middle of the season always feel like a lifetime, but soccer fans will be rewarded for their patience with the return of domestic club action this weekend. Some huge fixtures are scheduled in the Premier League, but which picks should be made by gamblers?

Back Away Teams

Looking down the fixtures in the Premier League this weekend, there are a number of away wins that look likely. The first game taking place in the English top-flight will see Liverpool travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford. The Hornets are now under the management of Premier League-winning coach Claudio Ranieri.

But, the Italian certainly has his work cut out to ease any relegation worries with a tough run of fixtures ahead. Liverpool have averaged 2.7 goals against Watford in the last ten meetings, and have scored 15 goals in their last three wins against the Hornets. We struggle to see anything other than another routine result for the Reds.

Leeds United turned a corner before the international break with a routine victory over Watford at Elland Road. The Whites are on the road this coming weekend, as they take on Southampton.

The Saints are yet to win in the league this season, and have lost their last two. Leeds won home and away against the Saints last season without conceding a goal, and they could pour more misery on their opponents this weekend at St Mary’s.

Utilize Over/Under Markets

This could be a good weekend for those that like betting on the total goals markets. Manchester City vs Burnley almost certainly looks to be a game full of goals, but it won’t be for Burnley’s benefit. City have won their last three home games against the Clarets 5-0, which makes a bet on over 3.5 goals in the match a promising selection.

Goals could also be on the agenda in the fixture at the King Power Stadium, as Manchester United take on Leicester City. There has been an average of 2.5 goals per game in the last four fixtures between these sides, with the over 2.5 goals bet being a winning one in the last two meetings. United drew with Leicester 2-2 at the King Power last season, before losing 2-1 at Old Trafford later in the season.

Brentford vs Chelsea also looks a game that will have goals in it at both ends. Brentford have already scored five goals in two fixtures against the traditional top six, with three of those coming in a 3-3 draw against Liverpool. The Bees have scored ten and conceded six so far this term, while the Blues have also found the net on 15 occasions.

Brentford’s style of play leads to them finding a way through against the bigger teams in the league, but they are also suspect on the break. The over 2.5 goals selection in this match also looks to be a wise one.
