Real Madrid is weighing an offer for Tottenham Hotspur winger Heung Min Son.
Over the last few seasons, Son has emerged as one of the top players in the Premier League. Since joining the Hotspur from Bundesliga Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for￡22million, he has improved his game day-by-day.
He has scored 83 goals in 220 appearances and became arguably the most consistent performer and most valuable star for the club. His performances made him one of the most influential and pivotal roles of the Hotspurs.
According to a report in Don Balon, a Spanish weekly sports magazine, Real Madrid has kept an eye on the player and is willing to make a summer move to bring him in. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a strong admirer of the South Korean Captain and wants him to play in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
The 27-year-old star possesses a myriad of talents and skills. He can operate from either wing or as a false nine. Son is famous for his quickness, speed, agility, and ability to use both feet.
Reportedly, his attitude towards his teammates, coaches, and employees is phenomenal, as is his desire to work hard for the team. It is not an overstatement to say that his nine goals and eight assists are the main reason why Spurs have not suffered much despite the absence of his teammate Harry Kane.
Son fractured his right arm back in February during a match against Aston Villa. He also undertook military service in Korea during the coronavirus lockdown.
Despite avoiding military conscription in 2018 after winning the Asian Games with South Korea, Son had to attend the military service as all athletes need to complete four weeks of national service. After completing basic training, Son returned to London at the end of May.
Before their interest in Son, the Spanish superteam had held interest in Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen. Instead, Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid’s coach, showed interest in Son and Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
At the moment, the club is expected to lose revenue due to the pandemic; hence, they need to be more cautious and smarter with who to sell, loan or transfer. To bring in new players like Son, Real Madrid has four players on the market to sell: James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez, and Mariano Diaz.
Despite all the rumors, Tottenham Hotspur is unlikely to take any offers below €150million due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak. The English club is looking to borrow ￡175 million from the British government as a result of the crisis to resolve the financial issues. The only way for Tottenham to be tempted to sell their star might be a proper bid.
Tottenham’s forward extended his contract in 2018 and is expected to play for the club until 2023. If Hotspur were to lose Son, it would be a big loss for the club. He is a constant threat throughout the season with his outstanding running and eye for goal. It would also be hard to find a player to replace him.
