There are a number of ongoing tennis tournaments throughout the globe. Most notable of which include the Dallas Open, in Dallas, Texas, the Open Sud De France, in Montpellier, France, and the Cordoba Open, in Cordoba, Argentina. This article will highlight and make picks for the key upcoming matchups this week.

Dallas Open

The Men’s Singles Dallas Open is underway with the conclusion of the first round on Wednesday February 8. The competition began on February 4th and is being played on an indoor hardcourt surface.

Heading into the second round, seven of the remaining sixteen competitors are American. In addition to this the top two seeded competitors are American, Taylor Fritz (1) and Frances Tiafoe (2).

Fritz, aged 25, currently sits 8th on the ATP World Rankings while Tiafoe, also 25, sits at 14th. Both men are the two favorites to win the competition and are slated to face fellow Americans in their second round matchups. The two have the possibility of facing each other in the final match, which would be a rematch of Tiafoe’s defeat at the hands of Fritz in the 2022 Japan Open Championships.

Action continues on Wednesday February 8 and will conclude with the final match on Sunday February 12. With the quarterfinals soon being decided, I like Taylor Fritz (-800) in his round 2 matchup against Jack Sock on Thursday February 9th. In fact, Fritz is my pick to win the whole open with the great form he has had in 2023, as he’s won 4 of his 6 total matches.

Boasting career-high rankings, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe are living their best tennis lives
Open Sud De France

The Men’s Open Sud De France is currently in its second round of play with 16 competitors remaining. The competition began on February 6th and is being played on an indoor harcourt surface.

The top tennis competitors (per ATP ranking) are Holger Rune (9), Jannick Sinner(17), and Borna Corick (23). Each of these players enjoyed a first round bye because of their high rankings and will begin their competition play on Thursday February 9th.

The final match is set to be played on Sunday February 12th. Holger Rune (-500) over Marc-Andrea Huesler and Borna Coric (-270) over Arthur Rinderknech are my two round of 16 picks for Thursday February 9th. However, I think that Italian Jannick Sinner will come away from this competition with a trophy in a follow-up to his spectacular performance at the Australian Open in January.

Cordoba Open

The Cordoba Open is currently finishing up the round of 32, with the round of 16 set to start on Thursday February 9. The competition in Argentina began on February 4th and is being played on a red clay surface.

The two top competitors both hail from Argentina as 28th ATP ranked Diego Schwartzman and 31st ATP ranked Francisco Cerundolo both enjoyed first round byes and will begin their competition campaign on February 9th. In sticking with my early round favorites theory, I’m picking both Shwartzman(-125) over Juan Manuel Cerundolo and Cerundolo (-175) over Delbonis as my picks for Thursday February 9.

The Argentinian Tennis competition is filled with many homegrown players, and I believe that it is likely that an Argentinian will be the one holding the trophy at the end of the competition. My pick to win the final match on Sunday February 12 is Francisco Cerundolo. However, he will need to bring his A-game if he wants to realize this victory.
