Main Event Breakdown
Jung (16-6) comes into this battle as a 10-year UFC veteran while also being fun to watch. His fighting record has some high quality victories, against the likes of Dustin Poirier and Frankie Edgar.
Even with his positive performances, he took off nearly four years with mandatory military service back in South Korea. One could only wonder what he could have accomplished during this time in the UFC.
Once he came back to the octagon in 2017, he posted a 3-2 record with some solid wins but his recent performance proved to be a lopsided loss against Ortega. However, many voices in MMA contemplated whether or not he deserved to be ranked as high.
Jung faces arguably another tough opponent in Ige (15-3), who is 7-2 out of nine UFC battles. But these battles were against somewhat quality opponents.
Ige’s most recent performance displayed a great first round 22 second knockout to Gavin Tucker a few months back. This was one of his best performances to date, with such a blistering knockout.
When looking at each fighter’s stats on paper, Ige has put together better accuracy and is the better wrestler. Ige should thrive in a battle where he seeks this kind of attention.
Odds For This Event

Jung’s takedown defense is very respectable even with his last battle against Ortega. Ortega had 10 attempts and landed three takedowns, which is somewhat rare on Jung, but Oretega stayed at it.
You should expect Ige to land a lot of leg kicks early on to disrupt any momentum that Jung tries to create. If he can create an edge in the first round, then this is going to be huge and Ige knows that.
Ige definitely has all the right tools to go head to head with Jung. They both are some of the toughest fighters in the division.
Ige is going to hand Jung the type of battle he craves, which is an all out brawl. Depending on what Ige wants to do, you could see a slower first round with him tiring Jung with leg kicks and takedowns.
If Ige can provide constant pressure, then he has a great opportunity to knock off Jung. He arguably has the better cardio and offensive abilities to get the job done.
Jung has shown to be volatile in recent fights. Look for Ige to start making the case at a title shot.
Ige wins by TKO, at -125
