The Mets and Dodgers will face off for the big four-game weekend series, and big implications are for both teams. The Mets have been in a rut for the past 6 games, just winning one of those past games. On the other hand, the Dodgers are on a 6 game winning streak and are 10-1 in the past 11 contests. Check out my Dodgers vs Mets prediction down below!

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been red hot and don’t plan on slowing down. They were able to sweep the Mets this past week and then destroy the Pirates in three games, most recently. They’re sitting pretty in the first spot for the Nationals League Wild Card but are only three games behind the Giants for the top spot in the NL West.

The New York Mets are dropping in the rankings quickly because of their insanely difficult schedule over the past few weeks. Getting swept by none other than the Dodgers and then dropping two of the three games to the Giants didn’t help their push for the final wild-card spot. They will get the Dodgers again and need these wins as they are 5.5 games back of the Padres.

The New York Mets Need to Get Back on Track As Their Schedule Doesn’t Get Much Better

The Mets have been up and down this year, sweeping teams, then getting swept, and so on. They were swept by the Phillies and then were able to sweep the Nationals two weeks ago. After that, they weren’t able to find a groove and keep winning. The Met’s pitching needs to be better, and the offense needs to also swing the bats better.

Pete Alonso has been the backbone for this offense this year, slashing 26 home runs and hitting .251 on the season, which is the best on the team. Their main guys this year, such as Dominic Smith, Jonathan Villar, and Francisco Lindor, are all batting below .250 on the year, which is disappointing for these players.

Jacob Degrom continues to lead the team in ERA with an out-of-this-world 1.08 statline. Marcus Stroman has picked up his season with a 2.84 ERA and 8 wins on the year. Tonight we will get the third-best pitcher for the Mets, which is Taijuan Walker. He was very impressive in the first half of the season, but his ERA has dropped to 3.75. He will have a tall task with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers Are En Fuego!

The Dodgers are crushing teams right now, and they have the Mets number while sweeping them last week. The Dodgers offense ranks 2nd and runs and are tied for fourth in home runs. Oh, and their pitching staff is literally the best in all of baseball, ranking first in ERA and BAA. With the addition of Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, the Dodgers are looking for a repeat win.

Max Muncy has been the best hitter on the team this year with 28 home runs and 75 RBI’s. Justin Turner leads the league in batting average with .291 and has also hit 21 home runs. This Dodgers lineup is so incredibly good that they have Albert Pujols as one of their weak hitters in the lineup. The Dodgers should be able to dominate against Walker tonight.

The pitching staff is also amazing this year, with Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, Trevor Bauer, and Clayton Kershaw. And they also just added former Cy Young winner Max Scherzer. It is an unknown who will pitch tonight for the Dodgers, but it honestly shouldn’t matter. The Dodgers are so hot right now that they should be able to take care of the struggling Mets on Thursday.

My prediction for this game is the Dodgers win 8-3 tonight with Mookie Betts, and Max Muncy go deep tonight for Los Angeles.
